pride and prejudice (2005) + mr. bingley and mr. darcy
you have bewitched me, body and soul
Mr Darcy and Lizzie 💫
“Matthew has incarnated Darcy as that complicated layered person who isn’t easy in his skin and who isn’t easy to love, yet who is a good person with a sense of honor and integrity. [Macfayden] was not afraid to be disliked by an audience at the beginning of the story and we have to dislike him because we are seeing him through Lizzie’s eyes, and we grow to love him as Lizzie does.” - Joe Wright
“You need to see that kind of rugged beauty in Darcy, knowing that here was a man who walks across fields, climbs trees, and very much manages his own estate. With Matthew, you can see that etched across his face, yet he’s also got this extraordinary vulnerability. On the page, Darcy reads as being very cold, but Mathew is so vulnerable through his big manliness that he gives Darcy extra qualities.” - Keira Knightley

Things I want more than Lockwood & Co. season 2:
1. None. I will simply die if someone doesn’t make a second season, Jonathan Stroud deserves it, Joe Cornish deserves it, Cameron, Ruby, and Ali deserve it. Netflix is disgraceful
2. Ruby Stokes as a Doctor Who companion
3. Cameron Chapman as Mr. Darcy in a future Pride and Prejudice remake and/or Cameron Chapman as any other well-loved literary gentleman. The council (meaning myself, @waitingforthesunrise @sixinchesdeepinmud @lemonsharks and @everythingwillend ) has decided.
YESSSSS the only way I could let Lockwood and co 2 go would be to give me Cameron as Mr Darcy and he must say the “you have bewitched me” lines. Non negotiable.
I mean... How long has it been since the last Pride & Prejudice? Around 18 (!) years or so. About time to consider making a reboot 🤔. I'm not usually into film reboots (the 2005 P&P is a gem) yet I think every generation should have its staple period drama. Someone please cast Cameron as a classic lit hero 🙏.
Cameron Chapman in like 10ish years could play an incredible Mr. Darcy if given the opportunity.
I mean no one can possibly beat Matthew MacFadyen as Mr Darcy in my eyes (sorry Colin Firth, you ain't my type) but hey, Cameron has that slightly Byronic/romantic/tragic something about him which would make him perfect romantic hero. And I am completely here for it.
Exactlyyyyy, and I say this as someone who feels the exact same way about Matthew MacFadyen. He was always my favorite too (sorry Colin 😂). But I would just love to see what Cameron could do with that role.
We both know he would be phenomenal as Darcy or any other classic lit man. Both Cameron's Lockwood and Matthew's Darcy spoiled us horribly.

Now I know we give Darcy a lot of grief for being kind of oblivious HOWEVER i think we should equally roast Lizzie for fully not noticing he was into her in spite of him being almost painfully, uncomfortably obvious while they were in Kent. He flirts with her at the piano, he flirts with her at the parsonage, he "just happens" to be walking the same place she is at the same time on the reg so he can flirt with her in the garden, Charlotte says more than once that he definitely is in love with Lizzie, he makes allusions to Lizzie possibly staying in the house at Rosings at some point in the future ie as part of the family ie having married someone in the family, and Lizzie's dumb ass is like "maybe his cousin Fitzwilliam has a thing for me? Lol that would be weird."
how to propose to someone 101 by fitzwilliam darcy:
1. tell them how ardently you admire and love them
2. remind them they’re poor and their family is embarrassing
- Mr. Fitzwilliam “Shit, I love her” Darcy
My brother has told me so much about you. I feel as if we are friends already. Pride & Prejudice (2005) dir. Joe Wright
