#gosh what a FASCINATING bookend this is; you have his scene on the top of the stairs when he's giving his Discreet & Bespoke speech #where he's in control and standing Above and very much is the Figurehead Giving A Speech; an Adonis or a God or a King #and then /this/ -- this 'lean and hungry look' to borrow shakespeare -- where he's coming from below but he's not Disadvantaged#instead he's rushing to attack to bite and wound; look at that first gif especially he's still in control he's still giving a Speech#but this time he's not a king holding court he's a predator chasing a prey that he knows can't get away #and the thing is he's /right/ in that kipps knows that 1) they can in fact do it and 2) that kipps /is/ feeling irrelevant #and lockwood doesn't know!!! he doesn't know about kipps losing his sight but some part of him Intuits it! he can sense blood in the water #it doesn't matter that he doesn't know where the wound is #he briefly loses control when kipps tells him to grow up but he does get it back -- even if kipps doesn't quite see it -- with the handshake #he ascends the stairs like a predator and he leaves them the same way his coat /billowing/ (thank you Costuming!) behind him #not to parallel him with YET ANOTHER VILLAIN as if the show doesn't do it enough?? #but the descent off the stairs...his teeth and ambitions are Bared #he goes from a Demigod to a Man of the People as effortlessly as anything; from a smile to a snarl #and all the while staying Lockwood and it's Wonderful (@blackjack-15)
