Waiting on Wednesday: Maybe in Another Life by Taylor Jenkins Reid

Taylor Jenkins Reid is back! We thought we’d never be able to survive the wait. For anyone who’s read a TJR book, you know EXACTLY what we’re talking about.

At the age of twenty-nine, Hannah Martin moves back to her hometown of Los Angeles and takes up residence in her best friend Gabby’s guestroom. Shortly after getting back to town, Hannah goes out to a bar one night with Gabby and meets up with her high school boyfriend, Ethan. Just after midnight, Gabby asks Hannah if she’s ready to go. A moment later, Ethan offers to give her a ride later if she wants to stay. Hannah hesitates. What happens if she leaves with Gabby? What happens if she leaves with Ethan? In concurrent storylines, Hannah lives out the effects of each decision. Quickly, these parallel universes develop into radically different stories with huge consequences for Hannah, as well as the people around her. As the two alternate realities run their course, Maybe in Another Life raises questions about fate and true love: Can one choice determine who will be the love of your life—or is it fate? Do soul mates exist—and if so, do we only get one?

Side note: TJR’s Forever, Interrupted is going to be a movie and Dakota Johnson, the star of Fifty Shades of Grey, will play Elsie! And if we’re being totally honest here, we couldn’t help but picture Dakota as the main female protagonist (Hannah) in this book, too.

Perfect for fans of:

  • What Alice Forgot by Liane Moriarty
  • Best Friends Forever by Jennifer Weiner
  • Something Borrowed by Emily Giffin

Maybe in Another Life comes out July 7th, 2015.

Waiting on Wednesday: Eight Hundred Grapes by Laura Dave

When, a week before her wedding, Georgia Ford discovers her fiancé has been keeping a life-changing secret, she flies to her family, their beloved winery, and everything familiar—only to discover her fiancé is not the only one who’s been keeping secrets.

Why are we so excited for Laura Dave’s new novel?

  • It’s set in the lush backdrop of Sonoma’s wine country.
  • It’s smart, funny, and aspirational. Think: Emily Giffin mixed with Jonathan Tropper.
  • Have we mentioned wine?

Perfect for fans of:

  • Me Before You by Jojo Moyes
  • After I Do by Taylor Jenkins Reid
  • The Hypnotist’s Love Story by Liane Moriarty

Eight Hundred Grapes comes out June 6th, 2015.

Waiting on Wednesday: The Hand That Feeds You by A.J. Rich

We CANNOT wait for this new novel from acclaimed literary writers Amy Hempel and Montreal-born Jill Ciment writing as A.J. Rich!

Morgan Russell, thirty, comes home to her apartment in Brooklyn to a gruesome scene: her fiancé Bennett brutally killed, and her dogs covered in blood. Distraught and bewildered, Morgan’s grieving process is interrupted when she learns the authorities have no records of her fiancé. After doing some investigating of her own, Morgan discovers that Bennett was not the man he said he was and that the grisly murder at her apartment may just have been the start.

ALSO, what makes this story even more intriguing is that the novel is inspired by the writers’ friend and author Kathy Rich who was involved in a similar situation—a man who proposed marriaged but turned out not to be who he said he was.

Perfect for fans of

  • Before I Go To Sleep by S.J. Watson
  • Sharp Objects by Gillian Flynn
  • The Bullet by Mary Louise Kelly

The Hand That Feeds You comes out July 7th, 2015.
