In The Art of Adapting by Cassandra Dunn, a recently separated woman rises to the challenge and experiences the exhilaration of independence with the unlikely help of Matt, her brother with Asperger’s. The character of Matt was inspired by Dunn’s uncle, who had Asperger’s, and it’s pretty clear from her portrayal that she understands the complexities of the disorder which is often misunderstood or misrepresented.
