Happy Friday, Bookworms! Here’s what the team at Simon & Schuster Canada is reading.
Alexandra, Marketing Assistant: I’ve been completely obsessed with Armando Lucas Correa’s The German Girl these past few days, and I plan to spend my whole weekend finishing this one. It’s a tragic story that follows a young girl and her family as they are forced to leave Nazi-occupied Germany on the St. Louis, a ship meant to provide safe passage to Cuba only to be turned away once it reached the shore. It’s a tragic story that is, unfortunately, based on a true story.
Jordyn, Sales Assistant: I just finished The Woman in Cabin 10, by Ruth Ware. It’s currently out in the UK and coming out in Canada in January 2017. This book is full of tension and mystery, followed by a huge helping of self-doubt. I was so hooked on solving the mystery that I powered through it in three days! I definitely recommend it, though maybe not if you’re about to go on a cruise!
Breanna, Marketing Intern: I just finished reading page turner, Brain on Fire, a memoir written by a 24 year woman living in NYC who mysteriously contracts a neurological disease. This book was a perfect balance of narrative, and scientific jargon, and it made me paranoid enough to WebMD every common discomfort or oncoming cold, believing it was something much more sinister.
