Brotherton Library at the University of Leeds. Or: Wait, did I enroll at Hogwarts?
It’s my Grandma’s birthday and she wants me to wear this denim vest and skirt outfit of her’s so I’ll be rocking that today. Let’s see how often I’ll be misgendered.
Tried to blurr out some of the background since it’s my parent’s room and me taking pictures there just because they’ve got a huge ass mirror is kinda rude.

Apparently, I’m too blond.

One day, the air was warm, the Luxembourg was inundated with light and shade, the sky was as pure as though the angels had washed it that morning, the sparrows were giving vent to little twitters in the depths of the chestnut-trees. Marius had thrown open his whole soul to nature, he was not thinking of anything, he simply lived and breathed, he passed near the bench, the young girl raised her eyes to him, the two glances met. - ‘Effect of the spring’
The Jardin du Luxembourg where Marius fell in love with Cosette. Her bench would have been in one of the eastern alleys, you can take long strolls between the trees there.
He took the shortest cut to the Seine, reached the Quai des Ormes, skirted the quay, passed the Greve, and halted at some distance from the post of the Place du Chatelet, at the angle of the Pont Notre-Dame. There, between the Notre-Dame and the Pont au Change on the one hand, and the Quai de la Megisserie and the Quai aux Fleurs on the other, the Seine forms a sort of square lake, traversed by a rapid. - Javert derailed
This is aprox where Javert would have jumped, I took this picture standing on the (new) Pont au Change, on my left was the Palais de la Justice, on my right the Quai de la Megisserie and somewhere behind me Notre-Dame. The water looks nothing like Hugo describes it- either because he added some dramatic whirls or because the original bridges had a different design. (most likely both)
[I’ll post a few more Paris pics during the next days, just block the tag Paris if you don’t want to see them]
A lugubrious being was Montparnasse [… ] a child; less than twenty years of age, with a handsome face, lips like cherries, charming black hair, the brilliant light of springtime in his eyes; he had all vices and aspired to all crimes. [… ]He was genteel, effeminate, graceful, robust, sluggish, ferocious. […] Curled, pomaded, with laced waist, the hips of a woman, the bust of a Prussian officer, the murmur of admiration from the boulevard wenches surrounding him, his cravat knowingly tied, a bludgeon in his pocket, a flower in his buttonhole; such was this dandy of the sepulchre.
The hardest part about oral exams? Pretending to be an upstanding member of society and not making fun of the formal wear.
please ignore the slight madnes in my gaze, neckties give me the urge to fight against the system. I guess I’ll ditch the tie though and find myself a west- don’t want to highlight my chest to much, the new binder hasn’t arived in time. My exam starts in aprox. an hour and I’m actually pretty chill- just really tired.
I’ll tell you how it went as soon as I get the scores this evening. See you then!
