The Crane Estate in Ipswich, Massachusetts was purchased by Chicago industrialist Richard T. Crane, Jr. in 1910 and the house which now sits upon it, designed by David Adler, was completed in 1928. In addition, its landscaping was designed by the Olmsted Brothers, sons of famed landscape architect Frederick Law Olmsted. The estate is now owned by the Trustees of Reservations.
The Golden Step Dining Room at Beauport, a historic home in Gloucester, Massachusetts. It was built at the turn of the century as a summer home for Henry Davis Sleeper, one of America's first professional interior designers and an avid collector of antiques. Overlooking Gloucester Harbor, it comprises forty rooms, each of which has a different historical or literary theme. For Sleeper, Beauport was not only a retreat but also a place to entertain and a showcase for his decorating skills.
