So this is one of the more amazing videos I've seen, ever, and if you have even a passing admiration for 16th-19th century European art (especially William-Adolphe Bouguereau's work) then you should watch it immediately. If you like the Hudson River School of painters and/or Caravaggio, you will also be well-served. It's a short film (less than ten minutes in total) in which a wide variety of famous paintings are brought, very convincingly, to life. To watch it is to step into the world of an oil painting and feel as though the people and scenes it depicts are 100% alive. It is utterly beautiful (as the title suggests) as well as magical and transportive. It is also definitely NSFW (nudity, blood, mild sexual content) so be forewarned. But nothing you wouldn't see in a museum, obviously; there's just...motion added. You'll see what I mean if you watch it. Perhaps my favorite part is that it ends on a painting by Caspar David Friedrich, whose work I have long admired. Okay that and the HRS paintings, because I really like Luminism, and they give you a fleeting glimpse, more than the painting alone or a photograph ever could, of an America that is now long gone.
