Land's End in Sands Point, New York. Situated on 13 acres and believed by some to be the inspiration for Daisy Buchanan's home in The Great Gatsby, it was built in 1902 but fell into disrepair in its later years and was torn down in 2011.
Its most notable occupant was Pulitzer Prize winner Herbert Bayard Swope, who hosted parties attended by people like the Duke and Duchess of Windsor, Vivien Leigh and Laurence Olivier, Dorothy Parker, Harpo Marx, Winston Churchill, Albert Einstein, and F. Scott Fitzgerald.
