An aerial view of the Hill-Stead Museum in Farmington, Connecticut. It was originally created as a country estate for wealthy industrialist Alfred Atmore Pope and is based on the designs of his daughter Theodate Pope Riddle. Her designs were translated into a working site plan by renowned architectural firm McKim, Mead, and White and the house was built between 1898 and 1901. Prior to her passing, she donated it to the public on the condition that the house and its contents remain completely intact. Highlights of the museum's collection include artwork by Mary Cassatt, Edgar Degas, Édouard Manet, Claude Monet, James McNeill Whistler, and Albrecht Dürer.
