On February 19, 1942, in the wake of Pearl Harbor, Executive Order 9066 was signed, which authorized the evacuation of all persons of Japanese ancestry from the West Coast. Consequently 110,000 Japanese people who lived along the Pacific coast of the United States were interned in War Relocation Camps.
