Rumor has it that Duke Stelmane was killed next door too 🙄 Lord Gortash better be planning on better security bc….
Hungary has a book problem!!!
Books are banned/wrapped in plastic because they have lgbtq+ characters.
A Hungarian book shop/distributor got fined 12 million Hungarian forints (which is about 32,079 euros, 36,014 USD. It might not look much in other currencies but our economy isn’t good) because one of the Heartstopper books wasn’t wrapped in plastic. Books with lgbtq+ stories have to be wrapped in plastic because of an anti-lgbtq+ law which supposedly protects kids.
The book distributor wanna take the case to court.
Bans/restrictions against books has been going on for a few years in our country. But this is a new low in my opinion.
I put some articles below.
this is a poll about whether or not you can remember the first election that happened whilst you were reasonably old enough to form memories. when I say “remember”, I mean, do you ACTUALLY remember it happening?
definitions!
parliamentary system = system of government where the executive is responsible to the legislature (e.g. UK, Canada, Australia)
presidential system = system of government where the executive and legislature are completely independent (e.g. USA, Mexico, Indonesia)
semi-presidential or mixed = a system that blends presidential and parliamentary in some way (e.g. France, Ireland)
for the purpose of this poll, “conscious life” is anything that happened AFTER your earliest memory. for most people this is between the ages of 3 and 6
i think blue hawke can be the most tragic variant. like there’s something specifically horrific about being the diplomacy person in Diplomacy Doesn’t Work: The Video Game
everytime the eurovision comes around i remember that hungary withdrew from it in 2020, because "its values have become too queer" as if it wasn't the campiest fucking thing from the beginning
the song contest didn't change but our laws have changed. ofc this would happen after they banned everything lgbt related from tv. eurovision is now illegal to broadcast. obviously they won't send a hungarian participant if the contest cannot be broadcasted on hungarian tv
this sums up my entire life to be honest
I’ve been feeling this for as long as I can remember

Hello, do you maybe have more info about which rights were taken away from the LGBT community in Hungary? I don't read hungarian and I couldn't find much in english. I hope you're safe!
hi!! thank you so much for taking interest in the matter, it means A Lot! i found this twitter thread that summarizes it pretty well in english:
and another one that says the same thing pretty much; and here's a bbc article that also talks about it:
Hungary's ruling nationalist party has submitted legislation to ban content it sees as promoting homosexuality and gender change to minors.
The draft law would ban LGBT literature for under-18s, including educational material, and advertisements deemed to be promoting gay rights.
unfortunately there's very little we can do about all this, these laws will be passed no matter what because it was the leading party that proposed them and they have a supermajority in Parliament. there will be a protest on the 14th and there's a petition but that's pretty much all...
