i still want a fic where Hawke goes back in time to fix or prevent Anders blowing up the Chantry but ends up with a MUCH worse future
Without Anders’ actions at the Chantry, Meredith eventually succeeds in annulling the Gallows. Under the red lyrium’s influence, she falls in line with Corypheus, infecting the templars of the Gallows with it, way earlier than the original timeline.
Without proper leadership and beseiged by their own templars, Kirkwall is the first city to fall under Corypheus’s heels when he rises and it, rather than Haven, becomes the site in which the Rift is opened.
The Chantry belatedly tries to respond to this threat but most of the Templar Order is already under Corypheus’s control- the Chantry’s military arm has been wholly turned against them. The trapped mages in Circles are either slaughtered or used to bolster the Venatori forces-
because there was no mage rebellion, the Conclave was never called. Haven remains intact, because it is the Vicounts Keep instead of the Temple of Sacred Ashes that is used for Corepheyus to unlock the Orb of Fen'Harel. in a city crawling with red templars, no wildly unlucky soul stumbles in to interrupt the ceremony. Solas rises to power unfettered and the Veil, rather than tearing and causing the Breach and scattering rifts across the countryside, falls completely and the Fade comes to live in the mundane world, causing fear and chaos and riots across the whole of the world.
