Minthara after patch 6

Patch 6 has me feeling things. these are just my opinions and random thoughts.

Consort is just Ascended Astarion’s pacifier: an object he uses to feel safe, loved, to comfort him when he needs it. I don’t think Astarion, in his evil route, would likely ever open himself up to anyone again.

He loves Tav, he tells you as much during his Act 2 confession. That he’s fallen for you. A!A will also tell you “You’re the one I want, the one that I love.” (this is different than his “I love you, that’s what you’ve been waiting to hear? that’s what you want?”) And idk i just think it’s interesting he will say that to you.

Also - Astarion tells you that he going to do the ritual so that you’ll both be safe- forever, for good. (He tells you this right after his siblings attack) You can’t tell me that man wasn’t already planning on eternity with Tav at that point. I think it’s very likely he’s already thinking he will make Tav a vampire if he can.

I think it’s interesting how Larian just added to Astarion’s objectification of Tav, and now it’s very obvious WHY Astarion won’t let you go if you break up with him post tadpole.

If Tav leaves him, his ending is essentially the same in the epilogue, so he doesn’t need Tav for protection or help planning or anything like that.

Tav is his pacifier!!!

His epilogue is a bit different if romanced or if Tav leaves him though. He will say that he's made friends who are ready to see him burn at any time (oof), and that "there's a sense of loneliness that comes with power".

But with Consort Tav, if they ask him if he wants anything from the party he will say "No, everything I want is standing right in front of me." (Referring to Tav)

He can also tell his consort that "I may have power, but it would be nothing without you. You complete me."

Currently bugged Epilogue dialogues if you were in a romance with (spawn)Astarion but left with Karlach for the hells:

Astarion: And look at you! Straight from the Hells, still reeking of brimstone. I take it you've been having fun?

Player: A little. But I have missed you.

Astarion: And I have missed you. But I understand - our favourite fiery tiefling needed you. So do what you have to. You know where to find me when the mission's over. [Devnote: Speaking to a romantic partner who left to fight in the Hells. Astarion has missed them, but supports what they're doing.]

To me this is indicative that he's grown as a person. Also who knows how this line is delivered as it's currently bugged.

I did expect him to be hurt, but the game has been very adamant that six months post story spawn Astarion is no longer passive aggressive dipshit person.

In my opinion the mature reaction after 6 months would be to say "I am sorry. I understand why you did it. But our relationship is over. I hope things are going well for you and Karlach." (Like I explained in my other reblog, I consider this abandoning your partner because there is zero communication, the final scene doesn't even play with the love interest. The main character just leaves behind their back.)

So to be clear… I don't think he should throw a hissy fit in the epilogue after 6 months. But he also shouldn't forgive this so easily.

I am just gonna say it's so dumb that this is what he reacts. lol

The one time I tried this was when they added the option for Karlach to go to Avernus... (so this was before they added the epilogue)

So my character was in a relationship with Astarion. Astarion started burning up in the sun... he had to run away and hide to save his own skin. His partner said "meh" and ignored him and fucked off to Avernus with Karlach. The final conversation with the romantic partner of course didn't play LOL so the main character really just fucks off without a word. Just abandoning their partner.

I found it hilarious that they even made this an option. To go with Karlach regardless of who you romanced.

Now that they added the epilogue, it makes sense that any love interest who was abandoned in favour of Karlach would react, but the fact that THIS is his chill reaction?? 🤣🤣
