ASSASSIN’S CREED ODYSSEY ✿ KORINTH
Located on the isthmus connecting mainland Greece and the Peloponnese peninsula, the city of Korinth (Κόρινθος) was one of the largest and most important cities in the ancient Mediterranean world. Korinth was well-known for its high-quality pottery, which was exported throughout Greece, and its geographical location and naval fleet established it as a major commercial center. The founder of the city is believed to have been the mythical King Sisyphus, and the city’s symbol - that of the winged horse Pegasus - belonged to his grandson, Bellerophon. Cults to Aphrodite, the city’s protectoress, and the gods Apollo, Hera, and Poseidon were numerous, culminating in the creation of places of worship such as the Temple of Apollo, the remains of which still stand today.
