wanted to practice the 4 of them in a non-canonical style 🐵
THIS IS EXTREMELY TRUE but at the same time it creates a lot of misconceptions about a foreign cuisine. If you live in the US and you read “Italian restaurant” this lead you to think that those are the things that Italian people eat everyday. And this is the basic problem behind all the hate and the flames on the internet: we don’t eat huge meatballs on spaghetti, we don’t know what garlic bread is and we never met a guy named Alfredo who made that kind of pasta.
That’s the same thing for all these people who claim to know sushi and when they go to Japan they ask “sorry but where are California rolls??”
Just to be clear By American Lemonade you mean Sugar + Water + Lemon Juice right?
Yeah, regular lemonade
That’s true! We have sooo different habits in food, I found very strong flavors in the US (if something was meant to be sweet it was TOO SWEET, and I’m not just talking about things like ice cream or orange juice, like for the Fanta experience ahahah)
Even the lemonade: it was good and I liked it because it was sweet, but if you think about lemons they are not sweet at all… in Italy out lemonade is much bitter that in the US because we prefer to preserve the real taste of lemons (I don’t like the Italian lemonade, for example, because when I drink it I can feel the bitterness of lemons)
But did you Have our American Lemonade? Not at McDonalds Obviously.
Yeah, I tried it and it was very good!!
First of all I wanted to try one of your SUPER BIG BREAKFASTS like those huge dishes with sausages, scrambled egg, waffle and other things all together. Here in Italy we usually have espresso (or cappuccino) and croissant as breakfast because we make a full lunch at midday but after one of these american breakfasts I was so full until 5:00 PM that I didn’t eat for half the day.
Then I wanted to visit some vintage thrift shop (you guys have the best thrift shops let me tell you) and I bought one of these cheerleader bomber jacket for myself (I can’t wait to wear it in autumn!!)
Then I went to some Italian restaurant (we want to see the world burn eheheh): we tried like 3 of them and none of them was real Italian cuisine. One of them was full of Spanish waiters who talked to us in Spanish and it was hilarious 😂
Anyway, those are the most important, i think… if I remember something else I’ll write
Guys I want to tell you something.
I went to New York last month, it was my first time in the US so I wanted to do all the canonical things a european should do in America.
One of these was trying McDonald's, I mean, the REAL ONE, THE AMERICAN MCDONALD!
I went for a burger and a orange flavored Fanta (I wanted the strawberry one but it was over) and, let me tell you: YOU'RE LIVING A LIE.
What the fuck was that??? NOT FANTA!! WHERE IS THE ORANGE??? It tasted like a orange flavored candy juice!!!
Then I realized that in the US you can sell a product and call it "orange flavored soda" even without a single drop of real orange juice in it, instead in Europe there are rules which force you to put like a minimum 7% of the real flavor thing if you want to sell something as flavored, like orange if you want to call it "orange flavored".
It was a big cultural shock, let me tell you.
Ngl the cowboy Bebop au gives me life

heeeey i’m sorry for all the cowboy bebop au stuff but it’s the only thing i’m able to draw during this exam session (i find it funny and it doesn’t make me think about the real ending of cowboy bebop so) anyway i’m tagging everything under “far west bebop”, just fyi :)
