TW: Mentions of alcohol and guns, suggestive content
There are guns that, unloaded, go off. All the clocks separate me and I can’t even find myself in bed. Poppies are the sighs of your scales. Those are the shots that hit the soul. If you want to see, I’m in the branches.
[Set yourself a different target, as I’m like a red wine. If you take me cold, I’ll fool you and I get smarter as the years go by, baby!
Drink me warm, at your pace, as I’m like an aged wine. I’ve been looking for myself for a long time and I can’t even find myself in the mirror.]
Because today there are waves in this sea that you see calm. You are the fish that bites my tail. I’m a bird and you’re the branches.
If we are alone, stu-stu-stu-stuttering and it’s no hoax. I never lie in the morning. Watch out at the eleventh hour.
I’m not bad even if I hide in the weed. (This is a pun in Spanish that refers to the words “malo,” “bad,” and “maleza,” “weed,” as they both share the same root, “mal,” which can mean both “bad” and “evil”.) Sometimes I pretend to be like, you’re my puzzle and I’m a piece.
But your body is a scandal. There’s a demon that always tells me: “Try it!” And a little angel who says: “Still and pray!” Who do I listen to of the two?
[Chorus]
Come to your senses, let’s not lose our minds. 'Cause this is our first date and I’ve already had about ten beers.
I don’t know if you provoke me or I lead myself on by nature. Girl, what you give, you don’t take away and what you take off, there it stays, brunette.
[Chorus]
Set yourself a target. Find me an adjective.
[Chorus]
Set yourself a different target, as I’m like a red wine. If you take me cold, I’ll fool you and I get smarter as the years go by.
Translations are back! And with one of Estopa's most famous songs, released on their second album in 2001. It's also one of their most sassy songs, and one that they always play in each and every one of their concerts since they released it more than 20 years ago. It's one of the favorites of many, both because of the rhythm and the lyrics, so it just had to be up in this blog!
Also, personally, I'd say that this song fits Luigi and Daisy a lot, as I see him becoming more and more daring and bold as his relationship with Daisy progresses and, therefore, being able to write lyrics this suggestive to her. In fact, I see Daisy being the one who provokes these “spicy” situations between the two of them that would end up inspiring Luigi to write this song 🤭💚🧡
As for Mario and Peach, I'd say it'd take them a lot longer to get to the point where Mario would say things like this to Peach, simply because their relationship is different and grows at a slower pace (in my opinion, of course). I think it'd take them longer than Luigi and Daisy to start teasing each other in such terms, but I also believe that, once they reach this point, they're unable to stop 🤭❤️🩷
Ohoho! I remember you telling me about this one!!! 😄🧡💚
Ah, so Daisy being spicy with Luigi inspired him to write this song, eh 😏? I bet she was REAL pleased with that… perhaps having him sing a different tune later? 😏😏😏
Uh, dirty jokes aside, I do love the idea of Mario taking a while to grow because he’s trying to be respectful of his Peachy (I mean… it’s not like Daisy has any sense of formality right? 😅). Aw.. and then him not being able to stop when he does get to that point. 🤭🩷❤️
Tysm for this translation, Zahra! I love this song, but actually knowing the lyrics… yessssssss 👌
Yayyyy!!! 😄💖
Ohohoho you BET, man 👀👀👀 I really like the way you think, my friend 🤭😏💚🧡
Aw yes! Peach is so elegant and graceful that Mario has a hard time when he starts having this kind of thoughts about her... that is, until they finally become intimate and then there's no turning back 🤭🩷❤️ (Exactly! That's why I think she and Luigi would start earlier, because she simply wouldn't be as patient 😏🧡💚)
My pleasure, Vee! I'm so happy you like it even more now that you know the lyrics! 😄 Thank you soooo much for your support! 🥰🫂💖💖💖
