so weird how in english some words are really just used in expressions and not otherwise… like has anyone said “havoc” when not using it in the phrase “wreaking havoc”? same goes for “wreaking” actually…
reply with more, i’m fascinated
these are called fossil words! here's a whole list
Also interested in words that originally had opposites but don’t anymore; i.e. how we say ruthless but not ruth.
Reverend daughter, Harrowhark Nonagesimus!
My favourite Merrill banter
People are talking about how reading Dungeon Meshi gives them an internal monologue Senshi for eating properly I think we all need to adopt an internal monologue Chilchuck at work. Like the boat is literally sinking and he's just watching it happen because he's on his lunch break.
This is the Union Chilchuck, reblog him to affirm your own worth as a worker and entitlement to regular breaks
I saw very cool cowgirls griddlehark desing and decide to make my own but unfortunately i have history clothing autism
Okay i have more creative option of Harrow
Marcelat Sakobi of Democratic Republic of Congo, at the end of the women’s round of 32 boxing match against Uzbekistan's Sitora Turdibekova, made a strong gesture to raise awareness of the ongoing genocide in the DR Congo by placing her hand in front of her mouth and pointing two fingers at her temple.

thinking about all the “small” art that’s ever existed. songs that were only ever sung in one village. stories written by children that got lost in the shuffle. personal paintings that didn’t survive the test of time. how they affected the lives of just a few, but still existed, still mattered to someone.
this is not a sad post!!!! this is a celebration!!!!! art is part of the human condition!!!!!!! we were born to create and share!!!!!!!!!!!

Do you ever think about kagehina's jersey numbers and throw up.
once is an accident
twice is a coincidence
three times is deliberate
I was writing this all in the tags but then gave up bc I actually want to say it out loud lol
Anyway it was deliberate, bc they get to pick the number on their Olympic jerseys. What we don't know is whether they made this decision together or separately.
Like, if one of them turned to the other one day and said, "hey, wouldn't it be funny if we picked the same numbers we used to wear back when we were just starting out our journey together? Haha"
OR if they just pulled that shit they usually do, where they're on the same page without needing to exchange a single word, and just picked those numbers without saying anything to each other. And then when the jerseys arrive they're pointing fingers and calling each other out for being big sentimental idiots.
