Good news!!!! I FINISHED MY (50,000 word) NANOWRIMO NOVEL!!!! And, unlike my pirate story, it didn’t take me ten years to get to that point! Of course, it will take awhile to revise and get it into a shape that people will actually enjoy reading (I have to sort out geographical inconsistencies, characters who randomly appear and vanish halfway through, an entire chapter that I forgot to save, and lots of wordy sentences that would not fly on the SAT), but it still feels like an accomplishment to get an entire rough draft finished in a month! Most importantly, this challenge taught me that I don’t need long chunks of time to sit and write. I can squeeze writing into my busy schedule one 15-minute break from work at a time and still accomplish a lot. Plus, it was lots of fun and now I can’t wait to get back to my friends on Critique Circle and my other novel that is currently (endlessly!) in revision! :-)
