the whole CONTENT is another issue but im just saying that his pacing is awful and so is his language use and they have all these brushed over sections of his comics that they insert for world building but its not important and is just confusing
like gerry get a better comic deal or cut some shit out your storyboards and notes arent supposed to translate exactly into your panels
let me just say this. there is no such thing as being “apolitical”. there’s just not! if you are uninvolved with ~politics~ then you are compliant in the system, you are complicit. the supposed moral superiority of being “uninvolved in politics” is just a way to make those who are voicing legitimate claims about racism, antisemitism, etc seem hysterical. it also stems from a place of privilege—because the ability to be uninvolved in politics means no aspect of your identity, life, culture, etc is at risk.
this is even more transparent when you have a platform, because you now have an obligation to stand up for and with others. and if you don’t, then it’s not because you’re apolitical—that term is a scapegoat for the fact that you are benefiting from privilege—it’s because you can’t be bothered to do anything else. do better.

disclaimer that im white passing BUT @ other white mcr fans - y’all know this is just… being critical of your interests, right?? nobody’s telling you that you have to stop listening to mcr or start hating gerard, just accept that he’s not a fucking god and that he has the capacity to be racist.
ppl will be like mental health advocacy/support is for everyone!!!it shouldnt be a race thing!! it is for everyone, but if you leave out race and racism, which is a crucial player in mental health of poc, then your mental health advocacy glosses over poc and then you have mental health programs made and targeted for white people.
the fact that the only time gerard's ever spoken up and used his platform to spread awareness abt racial issues that i'm aware of is in june 2020 combined with him being friends with (or in some cases literally married to) insanely shitty people (lynz :/) makes the conversation he had tonight have even more of a sour taste in my mouth. gerard needs to get his shit together, mental illness isn't an excuse to ignore pressing issues like this when you have a giant fucking platform. being able to talk about mental health without racism being a topic is a privilege only white people have, actually
So Gerard is a major topic of conversation today and for good reason.
I'd just like to throw in my two cents by saying that Gerard constantly avoids the subject and rarely if ever mentions racism. He doesn't speak out against it, he doesn't refer to it when talking about mental health, (racism IS connected to the mental health of poc don't even act confused) and I'm pretty sure he said next to nothing about all that happened last summer.
They can do this because racism doesn't effect them. I see people trying to defend them by saying that people need to take breaks to look after their own mental health, but they have literally NEVER started talking or doing anything about it in the first place.
Also think about all the people that have been or still are associated with Gerard who have said blatantly racist things. I think we can all agree that associating with racists and saying nothing to display that you disagree with them makes you a racist.
I literally wouldn't be alive if it weren't for Gerard, but it is wrong to ignore this stuff. Can I remind everyone about the shit Tyler Joseph said like 8 months ago? He literally made a joke about people asking him to use his platform to support the blm movement. His excuse was 'well my platform is for mental health so idk why I should have to do anything more than that'. And then he made a half assed apology and a whole bunch of people forgave him.
I don't want to see the same thing here. Gerard is someone we collectively respect, and because of that we should be holding him to the same standards we hold ourselves and the people we associate with. That means if I am talking to you about this and you try to make excuses for him I am going to assume you yourself are racist.
