erika edwards is an academic, the only person from usa that i've seen discuss this subject with the respect and the sensibility it deserves. the matter of race in argentina is just as complex as it is anywhere else and deserves to be treated as such.
Only a idiot would think Argentina, or any other south american country, is white. Even if we all in the region ve hear the Argentinos that believe themselves euro (bc as any other region of the world, neighbours countries will have beef between them), that's not the reality nor the majority of the country. I'm not even argentinian (but neighbour) and have crystal clear that Argentina, as any South American country, have people in all shades bc migrations from all over the world, and not just from North Africa and South African territories, but also can gringos remember indigenous ppl exist in every country and that afrocaribeños exists and live in the continent and that migration never stops? The real problem here is that a western, specially a gringo, can't comprehend the complexity of their own territory and pretend to understand of a country that is literally at the other point of the American continent, and is not their place to speak about it. Tired of gringos speaking about other countries, specially South American ones. USamerican ideas can't be applied to others, but I see it constantly, specially from gringos of colour or South Americans that are wannabe gringos and live there bc want to be part of the empire. Non of them can speak for Argentina, not even we, their neighbours, we can only callout this bs, but not speak about the specificities across their territory and the complexities of their history, how they live the colonisation, how this link with social class (which gringo didn't even get it), the internalized racism and colorismo, the damage that USA and other imperialists have made in their country, the relations with their indigenous nations, etc. I encourage that ppl read what Argentinians have commented in the reblogs, and if u don't understand Spanish u can go and use the translator or eat shit, whatever suits u. Yanquis would really prefer to see a nazi descendent in Argentina and assume that all the country looks like that and call them "white" than really research, educate themselves, and first of all, get that, at "best" you can say there is some "pale" ppl, but not a white country.
