Fan fic authors are not professional writers.
Expecting them to be perfect and never make mistakes is setting yourself up to be an asshole.
Do you know how long it takes to write and publish a 60k novel for most published authors? Years. Plural.
That includes time spent writing multiple drafts and doing research and multiple rounds of edits. Access to a professional editor, and the ability to hire sensitivity readers. The list goes on and on and on.
Fan fic authors owe you nothing. They are churning out multiple novel length fics (or the equivalent in one shots) a year while still holding down school/jobs.
And you’re gonna jump down their throats because they wrote a pairing differently than you prefer??
Shut the fuck up.
Tags exists for a reason. Read them and move on if the fic is not for you.

This is so real. I saw a post going around about how “fanfic authors don’t accept critique anymore” And it’s like? Imagine you bake a batch of cookies and you take it to the office to share with your co-workers. And then someone just sits down and it’s like “Ah, the flavour profile is not quite proper. See, you should have added the brown sugar *after* the flour, and” And it’s like? Just eat the fucking cookie, Mike, and shut the fuck up. lmao A hobby doesn’t need critique. You don’t even need to be good at it. Let people have fun on the internet, for god’s sake.
Are you fucking me? they are infantilizing and belittling the scriptural work of the authors. People who publish fics do a writing job and as ALL writers do it while they study and / or work, in what world do you live where they are not? If a writer writes some shit he should receive criticism as well as when someone is on the right track and deserves to receive praise and possible corrections and comments that help him improve as a writer. If you want to read something like written shit, it's up to you, but that doesn't mean that the rest of the human beings who read fics and fiction writers don't want good texts and deserve constructive criticism. Also, just because something is a hobby does not mean that it has to be full of spelling and grammatical mistakes, with coherence problems or open apologies to things that as a society we are struggling to eliminate, especially oppressed communities (such as the fetishization of cis homosexual men and cis saphic women, specially with violent ships at hands of cis hetero women and cis hetero men).

Sí, sé que esta jodida web se está muriendo si es que no es ya un desierto, pero como muchos, todavía estoy aquí, así que dado el hecho de que no he escrito un fanfic hace años y estoy esperando la invitación de AO3 para tener una cuenta, subiré este fic aquí. Decidí escribirlo ya que la serie de televisión Watchmen aparentemente no tiene fandom, fics o fanart, siendo el punto de mi mala suerte en términos de series que me gustan, ya que siempre, SIEMPRE terminan canceladas (Penny Dreadful, Hannibal), el "fandom" es escaso y la fanbase es de 100 personas como máximo (True Detective), y el fanart y los fics son pocos. Ahora llegué a la serie de televisión sin nada, lo que me sorprende porque es bastante buena y tiene personajes notables, además de trabajar con una de las obras más importantes del genio Alan Moore, la novela grafica Watchmen.
Sin más preámbulos, aquí está la historia:
La gente solía decir que el era raro. Jodidamente raro. Quizás porque iba en contra de lo esperado y lo común en Oklahoma. Quizás por lo detallado y técnico que podía ser en lo relacionado a su trabajo. Quizás porque tenía un laboratorio (y no sólo de fotografía). Quizás porque no esperaban que un hombre sureño blanco de fuerte acento y voz calmada fuera tan letrado y además experto en análisis del comportamiento. Quizás…. fuera todo eso, pero mayormente, sea que no lo comprenden, no logran sentir su misma empatía, esa sensibilidad tan onda. Incluso por los pequeños cefalópodos que caían del cielo.
