I haven’t seen anything about this on tumblr but the NYPD charged an Orlando solidarity march in New York City, trampling mourners from horseback. 4 people were arrested for peacefully marching in the street, and 1 person is suspected to be hospitalised with a broken leg.  

This is what state power really thinks of our lives. This is what the police exist to do. The nicest, gayest cop in the world will still attack mourners when ordered to do so because police are the military arm of American state violence. They aren’t our allies and they aren’t our friends, they are racist enforcers of repressive power. 

No justice, no peace.

I was at the march and let me tell you this was the scariest experience I have ever had in my life. There was no warning no “get off the street” nothing. (The woman you hear screaming to get on the street was one of the marchers trying to get all of us to safety). There was one officer riding on horseback next to us and no one thought anything about it because she wasnt saying anything to us. All of a sudden ¾ more officers on horseback came out of nowhere and started fucking CHARGING at the crowd. It was terrifying because not only were the horses charging but they were getting spooked by all of the people who were running away screaming so they started getting jump on their legs and kicking into the crowd. When I finally got to the sidewalk after my bf got unpinned from basically being stuck between a huge horse and a car I turned around and watched in horror as officers charged at people SWINGING THEIR FUCKING BATONS! I honestly have never been so scared in my life. The worst part is once we were on the sidewalk we are “complying with the law” and are no longer arrest-able. However as you can tell those 4 people got arrested in the sidewalk. Meanwhile I have a video (which I was told not to post for legal reasons in case my peers who were arrested want to use the video in court) of an officer charging people with the horse ON THE SIDEWALK!!! I have no words and honestly to be treated like that really shook me because we were doing nothing wrong. Sidenote: there were officers along the way every few blocks or so and none reacted the way these officers did, in fact some of them nodded at us as we passed by chanting “love is love” and “orlando we’ve got your back”. Just fucked up top to bottom.
