honestly it's been like 10 years now and i recently just thought of your fics out of nowhere while thinking abt my highschool days and i was like "i wonder what she's doing now". idk if you still check your tumblr but i'm very glad to see you haven't deleted it. i wish you well and i hope life treats you nicely. sending lots of love ❤️ also wow i can't believe how fast time flies
Thank you for taking the time to send such a sweet message and thinking of me, it really made my day <3 It's crazy to think it's been that long…time really goes by too fast. I'm doing pretty well lately, though this year has been a little rough health-wise for me. I don't plan on ever deleting anything, so everything here should stay up unless tumblr dies, lol. And I think I'll always be attached to this site since it's where me and my wife met. ^^
I'm still writing a fair amount, though it's mostly original stuff I may or may not try and publish someday. If I'm lucky, I should get to wrap up the first draft of the second book of a duology by the end of the year (that’s a mouthful lmao). It's a mess but I'm excited to have it done since it's been a while since I've completed a full-length story.
Sending love to you too, and I hope life is treating you well!! <3
I know ur hiatused from shinee fics, but I just wanted to pop in and tell you that I think One of Those Nights is one of the most beautiful fics I've ever read.
Thank you so much!!! This was the best message to wake up to lol. I really loved writing that fic and looking back on it makes me super nostalgic...it was one my first attempts at a longer story too, I think, so it's always really sweet to hear it was memorable. <3
This was such a sweet message to wake up to <3 Thank you anon! I hope you’ve been well too.
I’m actually writing fic along with the original stuff I don’t post now, it’s just all been for Genshin Impact. Mostly just smutty oneshots but I’ll be posting some longer stuff too for a big bang soonish. ^^ I primarily write Albedo/Xingqiu and post on ao3 as creamyalbedo, but I write a few other pairings too.
Hi! first of all, let me say that I've been following you for so many years, and even after all this time your writing is still my favorite. It brings me happiness and so much comfort, so thank you, truly. I have also been wondering if you ever plan to make you fics available on AO3? I know you have a couple there, but I guess I was wondering more about your earlier stories, like Synchronicity and other jongyu ones. Again, thank you for sharing your stories and your talent with us mortals!
Anon, thank you so much for this ;-; It really made my day!!! I can’t express enough what a confidence booster this was, especially since I’m struggling in the middle of planning a longer story rn <3 I’m so glad to hear you’ve been reading for so long!! Even when I haven’t talked with people directly or only on anon, it’s just really cool to know there’s that kinda history lol.
I’ll admit I’ve thought about moving stuff onto AO3 before, but have just avoided it out of embarrassment. Writing fics for shinee is really the first time I ever tried writing stories or anything, so looking back at it can feel a bit...oof, even if I am fond of an older story (tho I feel that way looking at present stuff too).
So...thank you anon for the little push/encouragement. ^^ I will work on at least getting my longer stories up there so they’re easier to read!
I felt some weird self-created pressure to keep only the ‘highest quality’ stuff I’ve done on there, but I mean...it IS an archive, so it’s fair to put everything up haha. And tumblr is kinda a tough place to read fics on (also calling myself out for never updating my masterlist).
Ty for the request!! I wanted to respond right away so I don’t forget (since I’m not on tumblr as much anymore) but also don’t want to promise anything since I have so many WIPs at the moment.
If I do try and fill this, it’ll probably be for that skies of arcadia/pirate verse, set on the first night jongyu met. ^^ It’ll also probably be a while away.
Also...if you ended up here through my genshin fics (just guessing because of the topic of the request), I’m super impressed since I don’t really advertise my pseud lmao.
Taemin’s friendship with Jinki has been strained for months. When Jinki ditches their evening plans once again without explanation, Taemin follows him to see what Jinki had abandoned him for. He finds Jinki in the arms of a charming air pirate named Jonghyun—and after a few rounds of drinks, finds their relationship even more intriguing than it had first appeared.
I started this a few months back when I started replaying Skies of Arcadia. Consider it part of my ‘revisiting the setting of old unrated JRPGs with the Digital Devil Saga inspired fic. ^^ This has always been one of my favorite RPG settings. Though it can be a bit cheesy, it’s wholesome and fun.
I want to apologize/prewarn that this may be pretty low-quality, but hopefully isn’t confusing or riddled with too many errors. I didn’t really have anyone to beta it so I did the proofreading myself, even though I’m terrible at that. Whether or not hammocks can actually be used the way they are in this fic, I have no idea, but I prioritized horniness over physics here.
There is a bit of a hanging ending because I have a semi-complete plot for this verse, though I don’t know if I’ll revisit it since I’m busy with original things. So the open/kinda sad ending here is definitely not the ‘real’ one. Since this is a oneshot, I’ve gone ahead and put the full fic below the cut.
For years, the Kings of Hell have had the demons of their legions war with each other to determine who should rule. Taemin and Jonghyun are from the two largest and strongest rivaling legions: Paimon and Beleth. When the legions meet on neutral ground to have the results of the last war cycle assessed, Taemin searches for someone to sleep with outside of his legion and finds Jonghyun all-too-eager to oblige.
Originally written for Taemythos as a self-prompt. Please heed the warnings/tags on Ao3.
It has been SO long since I’ve written any jongtae...hopefully y’all will still enjoy this! Really nervous to post it. This is one of two (so far) fics I’ve been doing lately based on older jrpgs I love.
Hi, I hope you're doing okay :) I know this is a little late but I just wanted to let you know that your outlining tips were actually really useful - especially what you mentioned about cause and effect! Thank you for the tips + for all the fics you've written, they cheer me up and inspire me when I don't feel like writing! If you're participating in taemythos, I'm excited to reas your work, and for your WIPs you'd like to get published, I'd love to read those once they're published too!
Thanks so much! And sorry as always for the late response, lol. Not doing so hot since I got my first rejection the other day, but trying not to take it too hard.
I’m so glad it helped some! I always feel like I’m making up bs writing and especially giving advice about it lol. ^^ My taemythos thing is coming along and will hopefully turn out alright, though it’s definitely a different kinda thing than I’ve posted the past year or two. I’m happy to share it though and will definitely share here if I ever get lucky and publish.
Ty for saying such nice things about my stories, messages like these are what I always come back to when I feel like quitting ;-;
How do you usually plan out your fics (especially the longer ones) - do you tend to just write as you're inspired or plan it out beforehand? Do you have any tips for plotting stories for fic writers? Thank you for your time ^-^
Usually it’s a mix of both! I start off writing whatever scenes are in my head/what I feel inspired by, then I plan out more as it starts to come together. The first ones are usually about the dynamic of the romance, the main conflict, or the premise. I’ve tried to get better about outlining now that I’m doing 99% longer projects and am trying to get published, but I’m not sure how great I am at it, and I definitely reach points where I feel stuck.
For example, with the current thing I’m rewriting, it started when I wanted to explore blood magic as a thing that isn’t just 100% evil (which a lot of fantasy stories make it into). What ended up coming out of that thought was the idea of a partnership between a mage and the person whose blood they use for magic, and the first scenes I wrote kinda dealt with how they feel about each other (since that’s complicated) and what they’re using blood magic for (cause it’d have to be for a good reason to not be unethical).
Once you have the big scenes, it’s a matter of ordering them and linking things together.
I knew I wanted to keep the introduction of the monsters and the revelation of how to fix them as separate scenes. But there had to be something between them, so I had to think of a conflict that would be enough to support a scene, or things that I wanted to explore/felt like needed to happen. One of the characters is lying about something, so that confrontation comes up. I need them to get closer, so one of them gets sick because of something that happened in a previous scene and there’s some fun hurt/comfort moments.
The most important things is that there’s kinda logical order to connect the scenes, imo, and a traceable cause-and-effect pattern. You’ll have to set up the reason for the next scene in the one before it...which sounds kinda obvious, but it helps a lot in “stringing” the key scenes together. Even if it’s just an emotional cause, it’s important to have that there.
Not all scenes have to be a result of something the character does, of course—I’d assume there’s other character or antagonists with their own agenda that drives things, too—but I think it’s best if most of them are, to ensure there’s a balance between external/setting causes for scenes and character-driven ones.
Like with the scene I mentioned above, where the character is sick—it’s a lot more interesting to make their sickness a consequence of decisions they made in the previous scene. Both because consequences are fun, and because it effectively “links” the sick scene and the previous scene together better.
I feel like I’m not great at structure/plotting things, so I’m not sure how useful this advice will be, lol. It’s definitely a skill that takes a lot of practice. Some books I’d recommend on the subject are Story Genius, Plot and Structure, and The Last Draft. Even if you don’t end up using the recommendations in it, it prompts you to think about what you do want and value in a story. I think I also kinda talked about related things in the past at https://shitfics.tumblr.com/post/182398989201/hi-im-a-fanfic-writer-who-is-trying-to-break-into.
Sorry this post is all over the place and it took me a while to get to...I’ve been really out of it lately and down about writing things. I hope it helps some at least! Thanks for asking, too <3 I’m always happy to talk about writing and brainstorm and things.
Hi, are you planning on taking part in summer of shinee this year? I saw a Pacific Rim prompt and that reminded me of your Pacific rim fic, which I absolutely love (and I pretty much love everything you've written tbh) and that reminded me of your last fic fest entry, so I was wondering if you would write something for summer of shinee too :) if you are planning on taking part, I'm super excited!! Thank you so much for all your effort in writing things that we can enjoy 💕
Aw, thank you for thinking of me! It's always really sweet to hear when people are reminded of stuff I've done, especially when it's an old one.
Unfortunately, I don't have any plans to participate in summer of shinee this year. :( I'd really love to since it's always been fun, but I think I need to skip this one for my mental health, and since I'm already juggling a bunch of other WIPs. Querying is also draining the hell out of me, even though I haven't sent out many and haven't gotten any direct rejections yet, lol.
I do plan on entering something for the Taemythological fest (https://twitter.com/taemythos) since I had an idea inspired from a game which fits the theme and I feel like I'll have an easier time handling a self-prompt rather than trying to fill one. Already had a few thousand words written for the idea when I saw the fest announcement, so figured I might as well.
Thank you again for taking the time so send a message, I really appreciate it! <3
Hey! Just wanna say I’ve been going thru some tough times but reading your fics have given me so much comfort idk something about your writing is so calming ☺️ thanks so much for your stories, you’re very talented
Omg thank you so much!! This is so sweet and encouraging and I'm really really grateful <3 I'm glad they can give you comfort and I'm sorry you're having a rough time rn. I hope things ease up for you soon.
Sorry I was late to responding, I've blocked myself from tumblr/twitter most days to try and focus on writing. ^^;
every once in awhile, i reread da au. i love it so much and its definitely one of my favorite fics out there ;~; thank you so much for writing it!!
Thank you so so much ;-; You're too sweet!! That one's really personal to me so it always means a lot to hear that. I had a lot of fun writing it and it's so nice to know people are still enjoying it. ^^
Written for winter of shinee event for the prompt listed above. Sorry I forgot to post this till now! Most people have probably seen this by now but I thought I should post it here too. <3 It’s another mostly-fluffy thing but I had a lot of fun writing it. Hope you enjoy!
Does jinki come back to give blood again or how do they meet again?
I think he continues giving blood for a while at least! After a few months, I think it's less frequent though he could still use the money, especially once Jong expresses comfort with biting him lol. He values the fun of that over the extra cash and doesn't have long left in his master's program at that point.
They have each other's contact info, so they start keeping in touch via texting and everything and start to see each other regularly. ^^ I imagine they make pretty regular "hanging out" kinda dates even when they're busy -- just being at each other's place while working on grading/homewrok (for Jinki) and writing (for Jong).
I don't know if you're going to continue the vampire au, buy may I ask how Jonghyun turned? I really enjoyed the story.
Thank you so much!! I'm really happy you enjoyed it
I imagine it's just kinda the thing where drinking and/or exchanging blood with a vampire will turn you into one. It takes a few days for everything to settle and is very uncomfortable so not many people want to do it, lol. Jong was super into the vampire dude he started dating when he was like early 20s and thought it'd be worth it. The other guy was the same age as him (like in regular age) and had recently been turned.
He was a kinda artsy type and was very excited about his whole eternity ahead of him and stuff. Once he met Jong and they started dating, they both kinda got swept up in the romance of it all and the idea of "forever" so they just went for it. I imagine they just kind of grew apart with time and eventually broke up when they realized they weren't compatible anymore. I think the guy probably enjoyed his immortality a lil too much (in terms of getting wild) and Jong was not about that.
I don't have plans to continue it unfortunately…still working on wrapping up the third (yuck) draft of the thing I've been working on forever and am tryin my hands at another original thing that might work out to be a trilogy. That'll occupy me for the next several years I'm sure, tho I might drop in now and then with some small standalone fics. ^^;
Ty again for taking the time to read and send a message
I forgot to post this here after it went up yesterday...oop. Just makes it perfect Halloween timing I guess.
This was written for the prompt below:
Vampires are an accepted part of society, and willing citizens volunteer to donate blood for the cause at their local blood banks. Jinki is one such citizen who needs some extra cash and decides to donate. While there, he meets the cute vampire receptionist [member of choice] who ends up stealing his heart.
