listen before i go

part two

your face is buried in your hands, biting your lip down in attempts to not let out any sound that may reveal your bottled emotions. it’s been a really tough week, and all of you are tired. but that’s not what’s on your mind at the moment.

for the past few days, you’re one of the many people who have been on the edge, because of izuku. he’s been at the hospital for the past few days, and he’s been released, now you’re just waiting for him to step foot into the height alliance. he could be here anytime now, and you’re just waiting to jump off your seat and give him the most warmest embrace you’ve ever given him.

but that’s not what you see.

all might steps into the dorms with a sullen look on his face, eyes down the ground while his hand is filled with a stack of white envelopes. you’re the first to notice his quiet entrance, bouncing off your seat frantically.

“all might!” you half yell, your sweaty hands holding his elbows. “where’s izuku?” you instantly question, slightly shaking his hand. he bites down on his lip, refusing to look at you.

“calm down, (L/N).” momo is the first to notice the look on all might’s face, depressed and sour. she grabs your wrist and pulls you to her side softly, placing her thumb on your skin, and running through it in an assuring manner. “all might doesn’t look to fine, let’s give him space.” she says, smiling at you.

you nod at her words as your eyes search for all might’s blue ones. your breath picking up speed rapidly as your heart hammers against your chest, thoughts running. your foot impatiently tapping against the wooden ground.

“it’s okay all might, we can wait.” kirishima tells the latter, reaching out with a soft tone. all might raises his head with tears in the corner of his eyes, lifting the hand that holds the bunch of letters. his eyes meet your and he comes closer towards you, hand on your shoulder.

“i’m sorry.” he says, grabbing the letter from the top, handing it to you. you look down at the letter that has your name on the back, clearly addressed to you. “i know what you two had, but i couldn’t persuade him to not go. he was too insistent.” he tells you.

“w- what do you mean?” you stutter, grabbing the letter and opening it fast. all might simply looks down at the letter while he grips your shoulder tightly, as if holding you to not let you crumble. “what do you mean not go, all might? where is izuku?” you say, unraveling the letter. he doesn’t talk to you, instead he ushers you to simply read the letter.

'to (Y/N).

i know that by the time you receive this, i’m not going to be there anymore. i know that you’re waiting for me, the whole class is but i don’t think i’m coming back anymore. i’ve dropped out of ua, i’m out on my own now. i’m sorry love. i know i’ve disappointed you, i know we both promised that we both would become pro-hero’s, but i still have unfinished business. don’t worry about me, i will come back to get you, maybe it due time, but not now. please take care of yourself, i will be looking at you from a distance, all the time. i love you, angel.'

your lips quiver as you look at the letter, tears dripping down at the already tear stained paper. you look up all might and look at him in the eye while he looks away, purposely not looking at you. the room is tense as everybody looks at you crumble in front of them, falling to your knees instantly.

“(L/N)!” todoroki comes to your aid, kneeling beside you. he places his hand on your shoulder and rubs it for comfort. sobs erupt from you as your body shakes with each release making everyone in the room wince at the emotion being emitted by each sound. all might looks down at you pitifully before handing out the letters to momo and instructing her to hand it to everyone.

“young (L/N)...” all might trails kneeling beside you and grabbing your shoulder. you look up at the man with tear filled eyes, as you open your mouth to ask a question, but it gets drowned out when you let out another painful sob. “i apologize-”

“where is he?” you ask out loud, wiping the tears off your eyes. all might looks away at your question, his hand going weak causing it to fall limp beside you. “please all might, where is izuku?” you ask.

“i.. i don’t know where he is.” he admits bashfully. despite being the young mans mentor, he has no clue where his whereabouts are. the intentions of the green haired boy are for a good cause, he knows, but he has no clue where the young boy has fled to. “b- but i do know he has good intentions-”

“i know that!” you cut off the elder, your head lowered as you let out your bottled emotions. everyone looks at you with their own tears filling their eyes. “i know that.. he would never hurt anybody. izuku would do things for a good cause. i know all that.” you pause, to look at the older man. “but where is he? he said he would come back. he told me he would see me after all of this is done, where is he all might? is he okay? is he well? is he healthy? just where is he?” questions after questions stack upon the shoulders of all might, lowering him down to the ground.

you let out another sob, reaching out for the letter and looking at the last line written with his hand writing. the ink bled out, signifying that he was crying when he wrote it.

“i don’t mean to make you cry, but no moon will ever be the same without you. i will see you again, just know that i love you, through and through.

"shut up! you don't understand you never have and you never will!"

it's not the first time he has screamed at you, but this isn't the right time to be arguing, not when you two are at the middle of a mission.
