Because I hadn't been able to vid for almost a year (after my switch to Linux), I'd been playing with the idea of doing reaction videos, after really getting into watching them myself. Of course, that was the moment I finally discovered an app that works for me - so now I might do both! :)

Case in point, I posted an Eternals vid last week, because I became just a tad enamoured with Richard Madden after watching it, and I just now I posted my off-the-cuff reaction to the new Rings of Power trailer. Enjoy! :)

Oh, and for my Shadowhunters peeps: following a poll in my community tab on Youtube my next reaction will probably be a rewatch of the pilot episode.

Oh noes! Spoiled by the cozy costube community and the overwhelmingly positive comments on the other channels I follow, I forgot for a second that some Star Wars Fans(TM) take their views on the canon way too seriously and dared to express an opinion (clearly marked with  “as I saw it” and “to each their own”). The person who felt the need to reply (not just once but THREE TIMES) in a very condescending tone, as if there’s only one valid perspective, was a man. Why am I not surprised. *heavy sigh*

Okay, lesson learned, going back to my cozy lurker cave now to digest the lovely helping of anxiety that still hasn’t abated. Will only emerge again when it’s absolutely safe. Thank you, random stranger on the internet.

Greetings from the Youtubes

What I’ve been doing recently, you might ask, when I wasn’t celebrating the Christmases? NOT really been on Tumblr and NOT watched BL shows, for a change. Mostly because I need to knit my mom a replacement shawl (she lost the one I made her two years ago), which means no subtitles because I need to focus at least a little bit on what my hands are doing. ;)

Crafty I am not, yet somehow I ended up watching LOADS of historical clothing/sewing videos on Youtube. It started with the wonderful Jessica Kellgren-Fozard and her charming queer-disabled-chronically ill-vintage fashion vlogs, which led to Bernadette Banner and Karolina Zebrowska with a healthy dose of Morgan Donner, Rachel Maksy, Abby Cox and Not Your Momma’s History.

Jessica I’m not so shocked about, considering she talks about a lot of things I can really relate to (being a clinically depressed queer woman with a not-so-secret love for vintage style); but while I’ve always loved history, if you’d told me a few months ago that I’d be spending literally hours watching some crafty ladies talk about wearing corsets or sowing a historically-accurate Lady Sherlock costume... It’s almost like my beloved ASMR videos, so soothing. Also at times surprisingly hilarious.

The greatest danger is to my bank account, really, because since I can’t sow to save my life, I keep wanting to buy vintage-inspired clothing. Which is entirely counterproductive to my vacation-goal of finally clearing out my closet. Which I did get a good start on already, though.

I’ve already liberated 3 garbage bags of stuff, and I’m only about halfway through my massive wardrobe - and still have plenty left after my half-assed, improvised version of KonMari. (It’s not so much that I’m a clothing shopaholic but that I never throw anything out that still fits me and isn’t falling apart, so there’s literally approximately 15 years of stuff there. Most of my clothes are cheapish and shamefully not ethically sourced, but somehow I can make even the fastest fashion last years. I have one knit H&M sweater that I got when I was 12 - back then, over 25 years ago, it was a tent under which I wanted to hide my newly pubescent body, now it fits me perfectly. *g*)

Hmm. GMMTV had Youtube take down my He’s Coming to Me vid. I wonder why they singled me out, because it’s by far not the most popular vid for the show. And I’m really not sure what their reasons are anyway, considering all my vid has ever done was make people want to watch this amazing show...

Because GMMTV is Thai, fair use (under which fanvids as transformative fanworks arguably fall) probably doesn’t apply (unless it does because Youtube is American?), but I have emailed them and asked them to reconsider. We’ll see if and how they’ll react...
