Last but not least, the soot sprites lava lamp inspired by Spirited Away. Number four in my series of four. I hope you guys liked my little project.
Chihiro and Haku.
It finally came back to me. I think that was you.
LoK/Spirited Away crossover! This is my half of a trade with s0mmertraum and oh my goodness it was fun to draw <3 Also this has nothing at all to do with this picture but you should totally check out korrasamiweddingday if you ship these two :)
The Art of Spirited Away
This is something that slips past the Western viewers- it looks like it’s reaching out for Chihiro, in a malicious way, to the Western viewers. It’s what I thought growing up.
However, now, that I know that it’s a way of signalling for someone to ‘Come here!’ in Japan, the scene takes on a whole new meaning.
That spirit knows that if Chihiro doesn’t eat the food, she will disappear. And it knows if it offers the food, she cannot be cursed as a gluttonous pig because it wouldn’t have been stolen.
Just a unique take when you have all of the context.
Hello Ghibli fans!
Have some Soot Sprites moving randomly. I’m still taking baby steps when it comes to animating things, but Ghibli Jam is the perfect excuse to practice!
You can find me on Tumblr, Twitter and deviantART.
Check out my first submission for this year’s Ghibli Jam!

GIF OF THE WEEK: Spirited Away
Thanks to gnumblr’s post here I finally understand how to properly export gifs
I worked with Studio Ghibli and Mondo to create new, official posters for two of my favourite films, Spirited Away and Howl’s Moving Castle.
These Japanese editions will be available exclusively at comic con. English versions will be available online at a later date.
Once again, a big thank you to the folks at Ghibli and Mondo for giving me the chance to do this.
