they were considered macho at the time, so it almost reads, to me, as a joke about the fact that we have a mostly-male cast

Final Fantasy XV cast, Japanese voice actors announced

The full names of five of Final Fantasy XV’s main characters, as well as their Japanese voice actors and roles in the story, have been revealed.

Noctis Lucis Caelum (Tatsuhisa Suzuki), the crown prince of the kingdom of Lucis, whose eyes can sense and predict the death of others.

Gladiolus Amicitia (Kenta Miyake), the oldest son in a family charged with protecting the Lucis family, and Noctis’ best friend.

Ignis Scientia (Mamoru Miyano), Noctis’ childhood friend and confidant.

Prompto Argentum (Tetsuya Kakihara), a friend from Noctis’ school days; considered a bad influence on Noctis.

Cor Leonis (Hiroki Touchi), the head of the Lucis Royal Family guards and one of the three strongest fighters in Lucis.
