Thought I’d share this in honor of the upcoming Social Shakespeare read-through of Troilus and Cressida. This is another retelling of some parts of the Iliad — but through the shifting lens of a variety of film genres. (Moving, and hilarious, and really vividly done. And both Troilus and Cressida even make an appearance near the end!)
Casting Call for Troilus & Cressida
The problem with problem plays is, people don’t know them that well, and not as many people sign up to read them. We’re trying to give as many people a chance as possible and fill a third read-through, but we need some help! Can anyone who did not already sign up make Saturday, June 30th at 8pm EDT? And for those who did sign up - if you didn’t already say yes, would you be willing to be in more than one reading this month?
Signal boost! These read-throughs are always fun, and this is a rare chance to experience a less-performed play.
Get your Greek on! Sign-ups are open through June 9th at midnight.
Come read with us!
Side note to G&S fans: This is the play Ernest’s troupe have been performing in The Grand Duke. (That is, when they’re not plotting to depose Grand Duke Rudolph.)
