I wanted to draw the Freckle Siblings and experiment with a new brush so two birds with one stone 😳 I care them so much I literally watched season 3 just for them specifically
I started writing that one TTS fic I started ages ago again and
This is the support scene we deserved //clenches fists
OKAY SO I just finished watching the Rapunzel’s Tangled Adventure premiere and it was so good, I have many things I’d like to share about it so, SPOILERS AHEAD!
First, I LOVE how they addressed Raps and Eugene’s relationship. Like it’s not picture perfect all the time!! But they’re there for each other through thick and thin, and they’re paving their own future together and it’s so inspiring <3
Also the fact that Eugene got so many singing solos this episode? God fucking bless. He has the voice of an angel and I’m so glad we get to hear him sing more because he freaking deserves more songs for himself
All of the character designs this episode were GREAT. I honestly thought Vex would have a bigger role but yeah she was cool! And I loved Stallion’s design, she’s very pretty and I understand why her and Eugene were a thing haha. I’m sure she’ll be back in later episodes, gotta get revenge for poisoning her dad after all lol
And Adira?? I love her so much? She’s such a badass and I can totally see her being Varian’s mom--not sure if it’s true but that would be awesome. She’s so mysterious but also super sassy and sarcastic and god I stan for her already That flashback with Quirin was pretty interesting too, seems that Quirin and Adira were part of something huge, which means we’re definitely gonna get more of a history with them and with Varian tying into the equation too!
I’m sad Var didn’t show up this episode but I know they’re gonna give it a while til we see how he’s faring. I just hope Frederic and Arianna are treating him well in that dungeon :’(
Overall it was an awesome episode, all the new songs are GREAT and I really enjoyed all the character interactions! And the fact that Eugene literally said I love you to both Rapunzel AND Lance made my day. He cares about them both so much sob
lovejapan55 replied to your post “I don’t even know when I thought of this or why but- varian and hiro...”
Dude he knows her side She's the one who dosen't care about his side And the there's another diffrence to Varian and Hiro is that Hiro had friend and FAMILY His Aunt by his side from the begging Hiro had Love support his Friends were there for him Varians so called friend Rapunzel was NOT THERE FOR HIM AT ALL SHE JUST IGNORES HIM UNTILL HE COMES TO HER WHICH WAS AWILE AND SHE GIVES UP ON HIM AFTER ALCHEMISTS RETURN I DO NOT BUY SHE OR THE OTHERS EVER GAVE A CRAP ABOUT Hi
It's not just about that broken promise
Okay I’m sorry this got really long but I felt the need to clarify so!
Varian doesn’t know Rapunzel’s side though, he doesn’t know the whole story, she didn’t bother to tell him that her parents were missing and possibly dead, that she sent out the love of her life with a chance of him never returning, that the storm was threatening to destroy her kingdom and that she had the decision of what to do about her people resting on her shoulders. He had no idea the sort of burdens she went through and exactly why she couldn’t go with him to save Quirin, and she never really tried to explain that to him after the fact either. If she did, if he actually knew what she was dealing with, then he probably would have been more understanding. Instead all he knows and thinks is that she decided he wasn’t worth her time and that she just needed to make a decision and nothing else, and that is the main reason why he became so frustrated and angry with her. Everything she tried to tell him after that just sounded like poor excuses to him and he didn’t want to hear any of it—she had her chance to tell him what was going on and she didn’t, so he shut her out completely. By the time she came back to give him a proper explanation he’d already thrown up his walls and she couldn’t penetrate them
And she does care, she does, but she is still to blame for not taking action immediately afterward.
You are right about Aunt Cass though!! She represents Hiro’s important family member after Tadashi passed away, and along with her encouragement and that of Hiro’s friends and Baymax, he was able to take a step in the right direction, come to terms with Tadashi’s death and accept it. Meanwhile Varian doesn’t have anyone to push him towards that path, and he hasn’t accepted anything about Quirin’s fate, especially that part of it is his own fault.
And no, Rapunzel did try to make it up to him and be there for him, she offered him several times a way out and support, but this was after Varian had solidified his resolve and absolutely refused to let her in because he was so afraid she’d just go and betray him again. Rapunzel’s mistake isn’t that she didn’t try to help him, she did several times—she cares about him so much—but her mistake was that she was too late in reaching him, because he’d already been enveloped by anger, fear, and the belief that she couldn’t be trusted anymore. There’s several actions she didn’t take on time or at all and that was her mistake, but she definitely can’t be blamed for not trying, because she did. She tried to reach him repeatedly, but he was too far gone at that point.
She didn’t give up on him, ever, even in the last episode she kept pleading with him to stop and think about what he was doing. But when she realized he wasn’t going to do that and that was partly due to her inaction she knew she had to take a step up and stop him even though it hurt her. Rapunzel treasures her friends deeply and I’m sure it must have been painful to willingly go to battle against someone she holds so dear to her heart, but she knew if she didn’t he’d end up destroying both himself and everyone around him. At the end of the episode she even begs her father to go easy on him, because she still cares—and he’s just a child, there’s still tons of room for forgiveness and redemption. And she isn’t the only one that feels this way, everyone does—it was just the safer option, really, to stop him with everything they had rather than try to plead with him and fail and then have him doom them all. Varian was no longer in a state of listening to people, he was way way beyond that, he went all the way and decided that to get what he wanted he had to take it for himself without any hesitation, and Rapunzel and co. realized this strong conviction and were like “Well we all fucked up big time so we have to take responsibility for that now and stop him no matter what and get him help”
They definitely give a crap about him, they give a crapton about him lol and that’s why they did what they did. That’s why they fought and that’s why they decided to send him to jail, because while it’s horrible it’s the only way for him to realize his mistakes and get him to see reason, because they already tried that before and it didn’t work so!! They went to extreme measures because they care so so so so so much.
Like? If my family member pulled that shit yes I’d send them to jail even if it hurt me and was painful, because serving time and learning that what they did was wrong is important and would help them become a better person. It’s morbid and dark to put it this way but they sent Varian to jail out of love. They’re gonna get him help and make him better, and it’s super extreme but it’s the only option they had left
So yeah both parties are to blame, they both contributed to what Varian became and there’s no way that Rapunzel didn’t try to reason with him and support him;; But yes she got the ball rolling and Varian took it and ended up driving himself into a corner he couldn’t back out of. I love them to death but hell they’re definitely both at fault here!! Silly kids
It’s not just about the broken promise, yes, it goes way way beyond that, but it was the driving force behind Varian’s downward spiral into villainy and that’s what I was trying to point out haha
I wish for angst! Angst sneak peak!!!
Alright you all asked for the angst so here you go
:))))))))
Basically it’s a “What if Rapunzel had gone with Varian to save his dad after all” type of situation, but this happens before they leave the castle and Rapunzel just told him exactly what she’s going through so he freaks out, torn between wanting her to come with and having her stay and do what she needs to do, so he has a panic attack and she has to calm him down
Alright I got a little too into it and hyper analyzed the last episode of TTS lol, spoilers ahead for those of you who haven’t gotten there yet! It’s a fun time //jazz hands
The thing that really breaks my heart in this episode is that everyone still cares deeply about Varian even after all he’s done to them. And he isn’t necessarily a full-on villain at this point either, he’s just driven by desperation to save his father and is blinded by his own view of what happened on the day he was betrayed by Rapunzel--if he knew the other side of the story, if he knew specifically what she was going through, that being her parents missing, her sending out the love of her life into a storm with the chance of him never returning, her entire kingdom at risk and the decision resting on her shoulders about what to do about the crisis she was in, I’m sure he’d have acted differently. But for all he knows and thinks, she could have left the kingdom in charge with somebody else and kept her promise to him, and after that she didn’t even come to see how he was doing, so that probably fueled his anger and longing for revenge even more.
Even so, even though he kidnapped Arianna and hurt Rapunzel (not on purpose, he had no idea using her hair in the drill would physically harm her), Rapunzel and everyone else still care. And they’re all so, so concerned for him, Rapunzel especially, and you can see it clearly on her face--
She is just. She’s so upset and her heart aches for him and she knows she’s partially to blame for how he’s been driven to this point, and she can relate to him more than anyone else, since she went 18 years of her life without knowing her real family--hell, scratch that, Arianna and Frederic know exactly what he’s going through, they know what it’s like to lose a family member and how desperate that can make someone to get them back.
Varian’s such an impressionable person, especially at this age, too, so his morals aren’t exactly right because he hasn’t been fully exposed to being an adult. He’s just a kid, losing his only family member literally broke him, and without any other choice or help he resorted to becoming a villain in order to save the only person who hasn’t fully betrayed him yet. The only other people who ever took care of him and were his friends have all become enemies in his eyes. The fact that he has literally nobody left to help him or take care of him probably made the situation that much more terrifying. He’s just a 14-year old kid, he isn’t liked much in his village and anybody who ever accepted him are either out of reach or untrustworthy;;
He was pushed, pushed into that position, he clearly doesn’t want to hurt anyone, but he has no other choice. He deludes himself into thinking it isn’t his fault so he can escape the guilt he feels, and blames everything on Rapunzel in order to give himself enough conviction to go through with all of the bad things he’s done. He sorta backs himself into a corner and truly thinks that he has to do things his way to save his dad, and that compromise doesn’t exist because the person who could help him didn’t when he needed her the most.
He just wanted to save his dad, he probably didn’t expect things to get so far out of hand, but once he reached that point he was like “Well I’ve come this far, might as well go all the way” (he even said something similar in Ready As I’ll Ever Be, too). And once he reaches the point where he’s used every last resort he could think of, he breaks again--so we get to watch him emotionally crash and burn several times, and. Gosh my poor little heart
(Oof this is gettin long so under the cut the rest of it goes)
OKAY BUT CONSIDER THIS at Rapunzel and Eugene’s wedding, Lance is the best man, Cass is the maid of honor, and Varian is the flower boy
Of course, knowing Varian he shows up with a petal cannon he invented rather than doing things the old fashioned, traditional way, and naturally it backfires, showering the entire wedding party in flower petals. So they’re all sitting there during the ceremony covered in flower petals, and since Varian was holding the cannon most of it got on him, so he’s covered head to toe in them—they’re in his hair, inside of his suit, everywhere. He apologizes to Rapunzel but she says she loves it and that it makes everything seem even more beautiful ;w;
Weeks later Varian is still finding flower petals in his clothes and the guards are still cleaning them out of the ceremony hall, but it was WORTH IT
MOON BOY MOON BOY MOON BOY
I wanted to give him more than just the glowy hair hehehe so here’s my version of Moon Varian :’)
Bonus:
Headcanon that the mark in his eye stays even when he’s not using his powers so he has to cover it up with an eyepatch so people don’t target him eheeee
And yes the eyepatch has a ribbon in the back it was mandatory
