↳ UNRAVEL [3/∞]
I think I have witnessed the purest interaction between developers.
yarny’s got this
I’m crying oh my god (x)
#Yarnquisition
Remember that precious man who so shyly and nervously presented his game at E3 last year? Unravel is out today! Go give the darling yarn man your money. The game is getting really good feedback so far.
GIVE THE DARLING YARN MAN YOUR MONEY
Tbh I think why I love Unravel so much isn’t just the cute meme that is Martin “Yarn Man” Sahlin and his trembly hands and his trembly doll- it’s the spirit of play he has
He was so excited (and nervous!) to be sharing what he and his small team had been working to thousands of people in the audience and on the Internet, he was so genuinely enthusiastic about what their little game is and what it’s about and who it starts that it’s down thing I as a player of games can relate to on a very ingrained level
It’s the joy and authenticity of just playing and enjoying an experience, of making an experience you love and sharing that experience and love with other people, that really makes me love Unraveled and their presentation at the EA conference. Not because it was the flashiest presentation, nor the most in depth, but because it was the most beautifully genuine one
It was a “hey, this is the thing we are so passionate about, that we have poured all our work and love into. And even though I’m a little afraid to be presenting it here on this stage, I’m not afraid to share how much I love what we’ve made with you guys”
And idk, maybe I’m just sappy, but I think in an industry that’s all smoke and mirrors and pessimism a lot of the time, being earnest and sharing that unbridled happiness and passion about your work just resonates so much with other people and inspires their own work and play. It’s an infectious thing and a powerful one, and long story short I can’t wait to play Unravel when it launches
i think the best part of yarn man (besides the obvious) is that all of these slick, polished, jaded millionaire videogame CEO’s are going to be kicking themselves and screaming at their poor staff like freaking defeated supervillains going ‘YARN. HE BESTED US WITH YARN. ALL OUR PREPARATION AND FLASHY PRESENTATIONS FOR NOTHING. IS THIS WHAT THE PEOPLE WANT NOW??? FUCKING YARN?? GET ON IT JAN, I WANT A ROUND-THE-CLOCK FOCUS GROUP ON YARN, SUBCOMMITTEES, GRAPHS, CHARTS, WE MUST CRACK THE YARN CODE IT WILL MAKE US BILLIONS OF DOLLARS’
when it’s like, no man. we just want the joy back. you have forgotten why we love videogames, and yarny is it. it’s not about the slick suits or graphics or money. it’s the love and joy. it’s just. games, man. just play some games and have fun and hug your little yarn OC that you made, and smile.
Actual cinnamon roll, too pure
I really hope Unravel does well because he wasn’t standing up there because he wants to make money, he was up there because he’s passionate about something and he wants to share it with us and I think that’s hella sweet.
and he’s shaking from nervousness and he FECKIN made the little Yarny figure and that man deserves to have everything he wants in life
Watch as one of the world’s most precious people reveals E3 2015′s most precious game.
Love your OC’s like the Unravel creator loves his.
I made most of the design while I was on a camping trip with my family way out in the countryside. I was so full of ideas, but I didn’t have a lot of tools to work with out there, so I figured I could act out the gameplay. And that’s how Yarny came to be. I created this little doll with old metal wires that I found and some yarn that I managed to borrow. Then I wandered around in the woods, putting Yarny in different situations and snapping pictures, figuring out fun ways that you could use your yarn.
Martin Sahlin being excited about his cute little friend.
I WANT LIKE 40 OF THAT YARN THINGY SO BAD
