Tried to pick up a pen and draw for the first time in ages and good lord I did not realize just how long it's been because just holding a pen and trying to draw physically hurt like hell. I forgot part of the reason I stopped drawing was because my tablet pen snapped and the other half was because it frickin physically hurts me to draw
You know what really fucking Annoys Me about internet censorship is stuff like swear words being heavily censored because that's entirely an American cultural hangup being forced on the rest of us. I don't know a single country where swearing is as taboo as it is in America. In fact most languages have swear words that would have the same effect on an American as giving a Victorian chimney sweep a pepsi max cherry.
Demonitizing Irish people's videos for having swear words in them is a kind of hate crime and psychological torture I think.
I used to work in education AND I used to be a social media manager dealing with dumbasses in our comments every single day, yet in neither profession have I ever come across people as frustrating, stupid, or apathetic as folks in the MC/YT circle
Everybody needs to be supporting the French community and ccs because they are being harassed to hell and back over on the bird app for the simple crime of supporting workers’ rights and “Not supporting Quackity’s server”.
The QSMP won’t end because of a union, it’ll end because of never ending harassment and hate campaigns being led against its critics from the project’s “biggest fans”.
Blind support is not the way to make real change in the world. Criticism is valid when it comes to literal workplace violations, and Quackity is not except from that criticism with something as important as employee safety and regulation. He may be your fav, but he has made a mistake, and he has admitted that he has made a mistake. Sending hate and insults and leading harassment campaigns will never lead to anything good, and all it does is promote a toxic community.
Support the French, support French-speakers in the community, support the French admins, and support the poor Brazilians who have somehow ended up getting harassed as well for agreeing with the French.
Support BAGHERA, because she is getting an INSANE amount of vitriol thrown at her for making the exact same statements as Etoiles and Antoine and Pierre, and they’re receiving a fraction of the hate she’s getting.
This fandom has always had a problem with how it’s treated its female creators and characters, and it hasn’t been this evident since the elections.
And don’t think it’s a coincidence that a strangely large majority of Quackity’s fans on the bird app are calling for the removal of “creators who don’t respect the project or Quackity” in order to “reduce the costs of the server when it starts up again”, which equates to them demanding that the French creators at least are removed. And, if the French leave, that’s the beginning of the end.
These so-called “fans” are not only supporting the corrupt individual(s) embezzling Quackity’s money through Quackity Studios while also violating French labor laws, but they’re also making the entire project look terrible. They’re trying to demand the French labor union stop their investigation in the union’s own comments and quote retweets, they’re spreading lies and misinformation about the admins who spoke out to try and discredit them, they’re harassing anyone who even remotely says that, hey, maybe mistreating your workers is a bad idea, and they’re all doing it with Quackity’s face as their profile picture.
Blind support is going to be what gets the server killed in the end, not any labor union. It’s going to be the bad publicity resulting from a bunch of overprotective children trying to defend a grown-ass man from a terrible mistake that he himself admitted to like he has glass bones.
Is this the end of the QSMP? Not by a long shot. Every creator and admin that has spoken out so far has stated that they have confidence that the smp will continue stronger and safer and better than ever.
What we need to do as an audience is support everybody being harassed, whether it’s Baghera or the former admins or the French-speaking fandom as a whole. We can’t stop the hatred, but we can drown it out and make the world see the QSMP as the beautiful project it is at its heart.

Being sick is absolutely miserable 💀
i do feel like.....idk, doggo culture or whatever has made people very comfortable with dogs and like. i obviously love dogs i have dedicated a lot of my life to dogs but dogs.....like, uh, kill people sometimes
there's been this weird shift from like when i was a kid and it was just customary that you didn't approach dogs you didn't know and you didn't touch a stranger's dog without permission to people feeling completely entitled to just touch your dog
to the point of disregarding and even arguing with you when you say no
i have an aggressive dog and the number of people who insist "well, dogs love me" and reach out to touch him anyway is ridiculous
i feel like culturally we've treated dogs so much like children that people have largely forgotten that at the end of the day they're still animals and animals are not always predictable, logical, or even safe
Adjacent point, and possibly unpopular opinion, but it also seems like there’s been a large increase in entitlement from dog-owners too — specifically them assuming that their dog is automatically allowed into every public building or retail space, not even checking if there’s a sign on the door, and having a go at retail workers if they’re not allowed
And no it doesn’t make a difference if they’re “only small” or “well-behaved, not like other dogs”
There are many legitimate reasons that places don’t allow dogs — as stated above, they are still animals, they are unpredictable, even the most well-behaved dog could be provoked. Dogs could have messy fur, many people are allergic to dogs, many young children are scared of dogs — assuming that they should be let in places as default is a dangerous habit which definitely seems to have increased in recent years
Learning this was an intentional genocide changed me.
I know most of those following me know this, but just to make it super clear. An Gorta Mór (The Great Hunger/the Great Famine) was a deliberate genocide of the Irish people. There was enough food grown in Ireland to make sure everyone was alive and healthy and survived. Instead it was exported, sent to England and elsewhere for profit while men, women, and children starved in the streets. While the English landlords fucked off and evicted starving families who couldn’t afford rent. While babies were too weak to cry and died at the side of the road.
They tried to kill us, but they did not succeed. And we owe so much thanks to the other oppressed peoples, in particular the Choctaw Nation and the Masai, who sent money and grain to us.
Let me repeat that. The Choctaw Nation who had just gone through the Trail of Tears sent us money to try save Irish lives. It’s led to an understanding between Irish people and Native American tribes, most recently when we donated to the Navajo and Hopi fundraisers for COVID-19 relief, because while it may be a different tribe, Irish people will never forget those who helped us and we’ll help back.
The entire population of the island is less than seven million people. We’re still a million less on this island than pre famine. And it’s not that long ago. My grandmother’s grandparents lived through it. We’ve told the stories, it literally changed the DNA of the country. We have a national fear of renting, because so many people were evicted. People joke about Irish people always offering loads of food, but it’s because there’s that cultural memory of not being able to.
They tried to kill us, but they did not succeed. We will not let them take our lives, we will not let them take our language. We lost so much, but we will not lose it all.
This is why I get so angry when people say “it was the potato famine, it was because of monoculture/microbes.”
Nope. The potatoes were the only thing Irish people were allowed to fucking eat, because as pointed out, the rest of the crops they were growing were for their landlords to ship to England. So when the one “worthless” crop they were allowed to eat rotted in the field, the English crown, empire, landlords, all shrugged and carried on. People starved to death lying next to productive fields.
It was never about the babies, but it doesn’t matter even if it was.
Disney’s support of the Don’t Say Gay shit is reprehensible to begin with but I think it’s a little strange that the solution proposed by some people is to yell at Disney until they say they support LGBT people and not question why the funny cartoon company can dictate human rights
I understand the appeal of wanting every adult hero to instinctively adopt teenage Peter Parker, but can it really beat the hilarity of acknowledging that at 15 Peter was 5'10", unusually buff, went by a moniker with Man in it, wore a creepy full face mask, and had a tightly guarded secret identity and probably a Queens accent thick enough to have come out of a jello mold, and adult heroes reasonably responded to him by going, “Wow, this grown man is an immature asshole for no reason.”
Way funnier to me than adult heroes finding out Peter is a teenager and becoming Concerned is the idea of adult heroes Retroactively finding out Peter Was a teenager because he admits to being like. 22 and they’re like “Hang on you’ve been doing this for like. Seven years.” and he’s like “Haha crazy right? Anyway it’s too late for you to yell at me about that because the statue of limitations on that lecture ran out when I turned 18”
YEAH this trope is instantly more tolerable if it’s fully adult Peter being like, *listen up whippersnappers because I’ve been around the block voice* “I’m thirty, and—” and Tony Stark, who vaguely assumed Spider-Man is maybe two years older than him because he just has that energy and hasn’t reassessed this for four presidential terms, is like, *drunkenly doing math* “You’re how many”
Okay but…them trying to talk about Old People Stuff with him, not realizing that he wasn’t alive to remember xyz thing happening, never used xyz technology bc he didn’t exist yet, not expecting him to agree with the fact that some ppl were saying songs they grew up to were oldies, etc
The thing about Peter Parker is that he was raised by senior citizens the way other heroes are raised by wolves. He has the body of an Olympic gymnast and the soul of a malcontented geriatric. This likely contributed to the perpetuation of the accidental ruse.
It’s when he channels Aunt May so hard he makes it sound like he was personally and immediately affected by McCarthyism that the time traveler fringe theory starts really picking up bets.
Pal, I JUST SAID he was raised by AUNT MAY.
Also not to get real on a ha ha comic post but the elderly are not your enemy. There are old progressives.
the distortion of "there is potential profit we did not earn" as "there is money we lost" is fascinating and disgusting to me. "megamediaconglomerate lost $1,000,000,000 to piracy this year" is a flat out lie. it is not true. they did not have a billion dollars, that they now do not have. they felt entitled to one billion dollars, that they did not have, and still do not have. it's an infuriating perversion of the truth
cant believe i lost $1000 when i told some guy at walmart to give it to me and he said no
The update finally hit me and I Hate the notification thing at the top of my page, I want that gone immediately
this has been said before but i think its worth saying a trillion times so:
in a country without universal healthcare requiring a doctor’s note to excuse an absence is classism. like bare naked classism.
