Cheap but effective if you don’t own contacts. I made small hooks that should fall on your glasses if you measure it right. Since it lands on your glasses it shouldn’t scratch you. This only works with really light masks though

Other things to consider

You don’t always have to draw the harsh light line if you just want a soft scene. You can just use the ‘bounce'as the light source.

You can also transform the harsh light line layer to any layer mode options your art program allows.

Feel free to experiment. Also, it takes time and experience to learn the quantities of line thickness, opacity you want of your light layers. So if you find yourself getting frustrated that your work looks nothing like mine don’t worry you’ll get there :)

How to (almost) instantly disable all 300 companies Tumblr wants to share your data with

If you’ve logged in to Tumblr in the last few days, you will have seen the GDPR warning, telling you Tumblr is part of the Oath family of sites, and requiring you to opt-in to their privacy settings.

You may not have realised that, in contravention of the GDPR rules which ban default opt-ins, if you don’t go into the ‘more options’ button and opt out of each individual sharing partner, Tumblr will share your data with a whole huge list of other companies. Like, 300 of them.

If you’ve already opted in to the Oath privacy stuff, you need to go to your Settings page:

Click the Privacy button on the right:

Then, click the little button next to ‘Cookie Consent’ to revoke it.

After confirming you want to revoke consent, you will immediately be taken to that big privacy opt-in page again. From that point we follow the steps @the-mad-duchess described - first click ‘Manage Options’:

Then, click the blue ‘Manage’ button, and expand the two lists. You’ll see five kinds of data sharing, and like 300 different companies:

The first five you can click manually more easily than using javascript. That might be enough to opt out of any data sharing - but I want to be sure. So, let’s make sure we disable every single enabled partner as well.

However, clicking on 300 little buttons to opt out of  is an absurd demand. There is, thankfully, a shortcut, using your browser’s developer tools.

What you want to do is open the web console. In Firefox, you do it like this: click the little menu in top right, then go down to where it says Web Developer:

Then, click the Web Console option:

This will open up the web console in the bottom of the screen. It will have a bunch of messages in it that you can ignore:

As shown, what we want to do is copy and paste some JavaScript code into this, then hit ‘enter’, which will make the browser simulate a mouseclick on every single one of these little buttons and thereby turn them all off. The code is this:

If you’re not familiar with JavaScript, let me briefly explain what this is doing. The first line finds the part of the page with all the buttons in it - specifically, the rows in the table of vendors, which is identified by the “vendor-options”. The second line goes through each of them one by one, and for each row of the table, goes inside and finds the button, and simulates a click on it.

If it works correctly, you will abruptly scroll to the bottom of the page and all those little buttons will slide to the ‘greyed out’ position. Now you can go ahead and click Done, click the OK button, and carry on using Tumblr, trusting that if they keep their word, they won’t share your data with those 300 companies.

I’m gonna chat with the New XKit devs to see if this can be added (they may already be working on it). But I hope this saves you some time.

Note also - this is not actually compliant with the new GDPR laws. The rule is that you have to explicitly opt in to letting companies use your data, you can’t have a list of default opt-ins behind a button like this. At some point, somebody will hopefully sue Yahoo/Oath and establish that in court. In the meantime, let’s keep our data to ourselves.

Tuesday Tips - Cape It Simple!

I don’t need to add too much explanation today. A cape, cloak or long coat simplifies the silhouette of most character, gives them a unique look or presence and conceals a lot of the overall anatomy. Keep track of the character underneath to know where to fold, drop or stretch the fabric. The fabric itself should play a role too. Different behave differently. A compilation of stuff I know about drawing Asian faces and Asian culture! I feel like many “How-To-Draw” tutorials often default to European faces and are not really helpful when drawing people of other races. So I thought I’d put this together in case anyone is interested! Feel free to share this guide and shoot me questions if you have any! I’m by no means an expert, I just know a few things from drawing experience and from my own cultural background. 

not gonna lie if you are like me and suck at coming up with poses using vintage sewing patterns for inspirations is so helpful for interesting poses that still display the character in a seeable way here are some examples of my favorites 

because they are literally drawn in a way to show off their outfit but still be interesting and not boring 

some more examples incase the ones above weren’t convincing enough on how much this is a lifesaver especially if you want find interesting poses of people interacting with each other

I mean if you think about it they are drawn in poses that usually Models in magazines do. And those poses are meant to be interesting and draw the viewer in for a closer look bust still be refreshing and easy on the eyes

I use pintrest to find these I have a board that i’m constantly adding to though while its currently small as I make this post you can use it as a starting off point if you want to

what do you type in the search i would love to check it myself.

i’ve always have interest with those kind of styles with a bit of a modern yet modest type.

For artists who have problems with perspective (furniture etc.) in indoor scenes like me - there’s an online programm called roomsketcher where you can design a house/roon and snap pictures of it using different perspectives.

It’s got an almost endless range of furniture, doors, windows, stairs etc and is easy to use. In addition to that, you don’t have to install anything and if you create an account (which is free) you can save and return to your houses.

i just want to say, for people reblogging this, that this is called the “rule of thirds” and the tips i wrote here by no means are things that you HAVE to do! these are just tips i use for myself, i kind of made up the bubble rule and i dont even know if im using the rule right haha so there theres that! i just like to use it so i know my bubbles have a place to go

This is also hella useful for photography composition, especially for landscape and architecture shots

I got a lot of asks about this so I made a tutorial on how I was able to emulate the 80s aesthetic, please keep in mind I’m not an expert and what I put here is just what I personally did. I hope you guys like it and hope it helps
