sirius ends up raising harry

and obviously remus is along to make sure sirius doesn’t either a: spoil harry into oblivion or b: accidentally kill harry

so harry, growing up with them, goes to hogwarts, and gets someone who asks the question of “do you have a mum” and harry replies with “sort of, i have a moony.”

and sirius hears about this on holiday and starts referring to remus as “moomy” bc he’s horrible

and after some time of this, remus just finally turns around and gives sirius a completely deadpan look and just says

“dadfoot”

Headcanon that your animagus ages as you get stronger and better at transforming.  

And so when a wizard transforms for the first time they’re just a little baby version of whatever their animagus is.

Sirius as a tiny black puppy (also this fits the name padfoot so much better than the giant dog).  Peter as a fuzzy little baby rat.  JAMES AS A FAWN.  MCGONAGALL AS AN ADORABLE KITTEN.

and Sirius working so hard to get better and stronger because “TINY PUPPIES ARE NOT PUNK ROCK JAMES” and he has to be strong and mature for his Moony.  

But Sirius is a puppy for like a year? and even after James is at least growing his antlers and peter is a full grown rat and SIRIUS IS A PUPPY.  and he can’t wait anymore and they show Remus and SIRIUS IS A PUPPY.  And then he realizes that it’s not because he’s not trying hard enough it’s because his animagus IS LITERALLY A PUPPY.

and it’s not until Azkaban that his animagus becomes the Grim.  It’s not until Azkaban that Sirius loses part of himself.

It was so happy, and then you fucked it all up!

can you imagine remus harping on sirius all the time for smelling like a wet dog, and sirius one day gets so tired of it that he just bathes himself in amortentia so he’ll smell like things remus loves. and then he just smugly goes up to remus, “what do i smell like now?” and remus just rolls his eyes like, “you smell like chocolate and wet dog, nice try covering it up.”

Harry swaggering into Hogwarts at age 11. Harry trying to lean back in his chair like he’d seen Sirius do. Harry knowing all the secret passage ways in his very first year itself. Harry knowing the perfect hexes for Malfoy. Harry pretending to be really embarrassed by Remus teaching them in 3rd year, but secretly feeling delighted when he finds the rest of his class thinks he’s the coolest teacher they’ve had. Harry getting howlers from Sirius announcing the next Weird Sisters concert. Harry fiercely defending werewolves. And most importantly, Harry who is happy and loved. Harry who has someone to go home to. Harry who has someone to talk about his teenage woes to. Harry who grew up knowing what wonderful, brave people his parents were.

my headcanon sirius has a magic tattoo of a moon on his upper left shoulder and it changes to match the phase of the moon so he never forgets even in azkaban bye

Sirius Black high-fiving Lily Evans every time she raises her hand in class.

Sirius asking James to high five her when he is too sick to come to class.

Remus Lupin doing it with a sigh and an immediate apology when neither Sirius or James is available.

Peter being overly enthusiastic about being asked to do it, and slapping Lily in the face by accident.

I really like the idea of Sirius and Regulus being partly Chinese since JKR never specified the ethnicities of all the Black family members and if you’re going to make excuses about it then I don’t wanna hear.

Imagine if Sirius could have raised Harry and when he sent a howler to him in his second year for driving the car to school.

Do they give sass lessons in Azkaban or something?

People always forget that Sirius Black is the king of sass and drama.

But think about this. 

Chemistry isn’t a Hogwarts subject. Potions is. But of course Sirius knows that Snape is a half-blood, and that he hates being a half-blood. Not only is Sirius being a sassy motherfucker but he says precisely the thing he knows will push Snape’s buttons the most - he mentions something Muggle related.
