I’ve drawn too little lately and wanted to do another quick picture with this one, because I liked the colours. At least two heads seem to be hiding. Hm.

Sometimes I draw things in 300x500px to ease the pressure. There’s only so much you can do within those limits, and it’s really nice.

A while ago I heard a version of this story where Athena has pity on Medusa and turns her into the gorgon to protect her from all men. A gift instead of a punishment for her brother’s crimes.

It always stuck with me, so here’s a doodle.

Tadaaaaaa~ first character !

   Ok, so she’s named Ditzah, wich is an hebrew name (meaning “joy”). And she is a Gorgon ! She is 16 and scales have started to take a good part of her body (she has a lot on her legs).

   Growing scales doesn’t hurt that much because it’s a very slow process, but god it scratches ! The areas of her skin wich are slowly turning into scales tend to be red due to the scratching but also the fact that it’s growing.

   Her little snakes tend to have their own mind at the beginning, it takes a lot of pratice to have control of them (wich is why she goes to a support group for gorgons, with yoga and a lot of relaxation) but in the end they’ll be a complete part of herself ! They to bite off her hair, making it shorter and shorter and slowly making place for her coming snakes. But with no control over them, they tend to also bite things that are near, like her friends and people on the bus. Awkward yea. They also sotimes keep her awake at night, poking her face tehehe

  She has that kind of very peppy perosnnality, always up for everything, jogging on saturday mornings, excited about a new chapter in science !

I haven’t posted much recently due to BIG EXCITING LIFE CHANGES, so I figured I owed you guys something. :)

Hi everyone, including new friends! (o V o) So I noticed that I’ve recently reached 6k followers?! You guys are craaaazy! Really appreciate all the supportive messages as well

Many of you have arrived via my one-shot comic, Medusa of the Forest. I originally drew the webcomic for a Japanese competition over at Tonari no Young Jump, and only posted the prologue on Tumblr; I didn’t expect the huge response that it would gather!

Unfortunately, I didn’t win! However, I was selected as a final candidate?!? As much as I would like to post the completed version of it, the rights have been signed over to Shueisha and I don’t think I am not allowed to post it. However, I’ll definitely link it guys if/when it goes up on their website! (Unfortunately, it will be in Japanese)

Like I said before, my goal with drawing it was simply to get some comments from the pros over in Japan who were judging the contest. They are manga artists who I respect greatly, and simply receiving their comments is greater than anything that I expected; This is the first one-shot I’ve actually ever completed, so I’m really happy and surprised at the same time. I’ll work harder on my short-comings and continue to try and create interesting work from now on!

Medusa and her blind boyfriend go out on their first date and he panics because he cant tell her she looks pretty so he says something really stupid like “I REALLY like snakes”

(i couldnt help myself okay) after that medusa talked about how snakes digest whole rodents and tiresias thought it was really weird but pretty cute (bonus points if u know tiresias’ myth bcuz lol snakes)

I bet Medusa used to take selfies and send em to people she disliked like surprise you little bitch

oh man wouldn’t it be GREAT if Hollywood gave Medusa the movie treatment and showed her as the tragic wronged hero she was? Just chillin’ out as a just a ordinary woman until Poseidon raped her in Athena’s temple and instead of being like “DUDE UNCLE NO WTF ARE YOU DOING?!” and smiting him, Athena punished the victim and turned her into a monster with snakes for hair…only wait Athena isn’t an idiot and how could she even punish the god of the sea? But she could give Medusa the power to make sure no man ever laid a goddamn finger on her again. Until Perseus traipsed in and fucked it all up. Way to go idiot. I bet if you’d just asked nicely she might have turned shit to stone for you.
