Love how tumblr has its own folk stories. Yeah the God of Arepo we’ve all heard the story and we all still cry about it. Yeah that one about the woman locked up for centuries finally getting free. That one about the witch who would marry anyone who could get her house key from her cat and it’s revealed she IS the cat after the narrator befriends the cat.

Might I add:

The defeat of the wizard who made people choose how they’d be to be executed

The woman who raised the changeling alongside her biological child

The human who died of radiation poisoning after repairing the spaceship

The adventures of a space roomba

Cinderella finding Araura (and falling in love)

I don’t know a snappy description but the my nemesis cynthia story certainly lives in my head

I am in love with you /p

What about the one with the princess locked in a tower learning to become a wizard? That’s lived in my mind for years and I haven’t seen it in a long time

mcytarchived

right so with qsmp starting we're all gonna remember to archive the vods right. we aren't going to have a repeat of like 6 million smps before this right

i have an entire page here of resources you can use to archive. i would personally recommend twitchlink to save vods because it allows you to save streams as they're live meaning you won't lose things like audio to copyright issues o7

the way i would go about archiving this would be to start a spreadsheet with individual tabs for each member, and having columns for the stream title, stream date, original twitch link, a link to the vod reuploaded on archive.org and a column for indicating the status of that vod (is it archived, do you have links to both the original vod and the archive or just the original, etc).

for future references you can use twitchtracker to see all clips + records of a twotch user's streams. if a vod is lost you will at least be able to find the title and date of it + whatever clips from it may have been made.

use archive.org to upload vods. i would not recommend trying to save vods with the wayback machine as your sole form of archiving vods because it is almost certain that the video file will break and therefore will make it inaccessible.

[id: screenshot of tumblr tags that say, "but you cannot fall victim to bystander effect! DO NOT ASSUME SOMEONE ELSE WILL DO IT SO YOU DON'T NEED TO." end id.]

and to anyone who needs it, here is everyone in the smp with links to their twitch channels:

Character Alignment

The Nine alignment cross reference Good (characters who value innocent life and equality) and Evil (characters who do not value life and are driven by chaos or standards of life) with Law (characters with strict codes and morality) and Chaos (character who do what they feel is right/what they want too.)

Most, if not all, characters can be found to fit one of the below categories, and finding where your character fits can help establish their goals and what actions they are willing to take. The rundowns are found here.

Lawful Good, “Crusader”

A lawful good character acts as a good person is expected or required to act. He combines a commitment to oppose evil with the discipline to fight relentlessly. He tells the truth, keeps his word, helps those in need, and speaks out against injustice. A lawful good character hates to see the guilty go unpunished.
Lawful good is the best alignment you can be because it combines honor and compassion.
Lawful good can be a dangerous alignment when it restricts freedom and criminalizes self-interest.

Neutral Good, “Benefactor”

A neutral good character does the best that a good person can do. He is devoted to helping others. He works with kings and magistrates but does not feel beholden to them.
Neutral good is the best alignment you can be because it means doing what is good without bias for or against order.
Neutral good can be a dangerous alignment when it advances mediocrity by limiting the actions of the truly capable.

Chaotic Good, “Rebel”

A chaotic good character acts as his conscience directs him with little regard for what others expect of him. He makes his own way, but he’s kind and benevolent. He believes in goodness and right but has little use for laws and regulations. He hates it when people try to intimidate others and tell them what to do. He follows his own moral compass, which, although good, may not agree with that of society.
Chaotic good is the best alignment you can be because it combines a good heart with a free spirit.
Chaotic good can be a dangerous alignment when it disrupts the order of society and punishes those who do well for themselves.

Lawful Neutral, “Judge”

A lawful neutral character acts as law, tradition, or a personal code directs her. Order and organization are paramount to her. She may believe in personal order and live by a code or standard, or she may believe in order for all and favor a strong, organized government.
Lawful neutral is the best alignment you can be because it means you are reliable and honorable without being a zealot.
Lawful neutral can be a dangerous alignment when it seeks to eliminate all freedom, choice, and diversity in society.

Neutral, “Objective”

A neutral character does what seems to be a good idea. She doesn’t feel strongly one way or the other when it comes to good vs. evil or law vs. chaos. Most neutral characters exhibit a lack of conviction or bias rather than a commitment to neutrality. Such a character thinks of good as better than evil-after all, she would rather have good neighbors and rulers than evil ones. Still, she’s not personally committed to upholding good in any abstract or universal way.
Some neutral characters, on the other hand, commit themselves philosophically to neutrality. They see good, evil, law, and chaos as prejudices and dangerous extremes. They advocate the middle way of neutrality as the best, most balanced road in the long run.
Neutral is the best alignment you can be because it means you act naturally, without prejudice or compulsion.
Neutral can be a dangerous alignment when it represents apathy, indifference, and a lack of conviction.

Chaotic Neutral, “Free Spirit”

A chaotic neutral character follows his whims. He is an individualist first and last. He values his own liberty but doesn’t strive to protect others’ freedom. He avoids authority, resents restrictions, and challenges traditions. A chaotic neutral character does not intentionally disrupt organizations as part of a campaign of anarchy. To do so, he would have to be motivated either by good (and a desire to liberate others) or evil (and a desire to make those different from himself suffer). A chaotic neutral character may be unpredictable, but his behavior is not totally random. He is not as likely to jump off a bridge as to cross it.
Chaotic neutral is the best alignment you can be because it represents true freedom from both society’s restrictions and a do-gooder’s zeal.
Chaotic neutral can be a dangerous alignment when it seeks to eliminate all authority, harmony, and order in society.

Lawful Evil, “Dominator”

A lawful evil villain methodically takes what he wants within the limits of his code of conduct without regard for whom it hurts. He cares about tradition, loyalty, and order but not about freedom, dignity, or life. He plays by the rules but without mercy or compassion. He is comfortable in a hierarchy and would like to rule, but is willing to serve. He condemns others not according to their actions but according to race, religion, homeland, or social rank. He is loath to break laws or promises.
This reluctance comes partly from his nature and partly because he depends on order to protect himself from those who oppose him on moral grounds. Some lawful evil villains have particular taboos, such as not killing in cold blood (but having underlings do it) or not letting children come to harm (if it can be helped). They imagine that these compunctions put them above unprincipled villains.
Some lawful evil people and creatures commit themselves to evil with a zeal like that of a crusader committed to good. Beyond being willing to hurt others for their own ends, they take pleasure in spreading evil as an end unto itself. They may also see doing evil as part of a duty to an evil deity or master.
Lawful evil is sometimes called “diabolical,” because devils are the epitome of lawful evil.
Lawful evil creatures consider their alignment to be the best because it combines honor with a dedicated self-interest.
Lawful evil is the most dangerous alignment because it represents methodical, intentional, and frequently successful evil.

Neutral Evil, “Malefactor”

A neutral evil villain does whatever she can get away with. She is out for herself, pure and simple. She sheds no tears for those she kills, whether for profit, sport, or convenience. She has no love of order and holds no illusion that following laws, traditions, or codes would make her any better or more noble. On the other hand, she doesn’t have the restless nature or love of conflict that a chaotic evil villain has.
Some neutral evil villains hold up evil as an ideal, committing evil for its own sake. Most often, such villains are devoted to evil deities or secret societies.
Neutral evil beings consider their alignment to be the best because they can advance themselves without regard for others.
Neutral evil is the most dangerous alignment because it represents pure evil without honor and without variation.

Chaotic Evil, “Destroyer”

A chaotic evil character does whatever his greed, hatred, and lust for destruction drive him to do. He is hot-tempered, vicious, arbitrarily violent, and unpredictable. If he is simply out for whatever he can get, he is ruthless and brutal. If he is committed to the spread of evil and chaos, he is even worse. Thankfully, his plans are haphazard, and any groups he joins or forms are poorly organized. Typically, chaotic evil people can be made to work together only by force, and their leader lasts only as long as he can thwart attempts to topple or assassinate him.
Chaotic evil is sometimes called “demonic” because demons are the epitome of chaotic evil.
Chaotic evil beings believe their alignment is the best because it combines self-interest and pure freedom.
Chaotic evil is the most dangerous alignment because it represents the destruction not only of beauty and life but also of the order on which beauty and life depend.

3D Learning Resources

This is not coding related, I know, but gamedev-learning related enough to be here! :) I’ve been asked about learning resources for 3D modeling and tried to make a list of tutorials I could remember - I’m highlighting the ones I’ve tried myself but I’ve heard good things about all of these. This list is low poly focused but the knowledge can be applied for anything else.

I haven’t been doing this for long - I started learning 3D last July and have been ever since but as a 2D artist the technical side of it still overwhelms me a lot. I’ve gone nowhere near animation yet but I’ve been adventuring with low poly quite a lot (which you can check out in #GemuNoGemu, image above - I also put up assets pics in a Trello here as well as stuff on my website). I mainly use Maya (now Maya LT) but I’ve been trying to tackle Blender too. Here are some helpful goodies:

Maya:

  • I started learning Maya with this series of videos on youtube by Misterh3d. I watched through units 1-7 and it’s a pretty great introduction! Nicely paced, covers a bunch you gotta know.
  • A series on Low poly for game assets using Maya 2015

Blender:

All things 3D/low poly:

Cool Misc stuff:

  • Blender Cycles rendering introduction
  • Creating flat colored low poly art. This is how I currently color all assets for Gemu (I used to color using materials or vertex colors before because I can’t stand UV unwrapping but this is a pretty easy alternative)
  • Please do check the Polycount forum, so many cool references and useful info! Also do check their low poly thread :)
  • There’s also reddit’s /low_poly

Study Files:

  • Cocefi kindly uploaded a low poly model for download here :)
  • You can download models on Sketchfab! Here are some popular low poly ones
  • Lots of cool Cinema 4D project files for download here
  • (I’ll share some Gemu stuff soon! Lemme know if you have any files you’d be willing to share :D)

Rad people making awesome 3D stuff:

This is it for now! :) I know it’s short but I hope I can keep it growing - I’ll add more stuff to it as I find other tuts (let me know if you have any suggestions!).

MADOKA MAGICA MASTERPOST!

so rebellion came out on blu-ray and everyones talking about this show again so i thought now would be a good time to make this:

 Intro:

She has a loving family and best friends, laughs and cries from time to time… Madoka Kaname, an eighth grader of Mitakihara middle school, is one of those who lives such a life. One day, she had a very magical encounter. She doesn’t know if it happened by chance or by fate yet. This is a fateful encounter that can change her destiny—this is a beginning of the new story of the magical witch girls.

it’s a magical girl story but with a lot of dark themes.. like you’ll be very surprised when you watch the show

the main series (the anime):

1. i first met her in a dream, or something… (sub / dub) // 2. that would be truly wonderful (sub / dub) // 3. i'm not afraid of anything anymore (sub / dub) // 4. miracles and magic are real (sub / dub) // 5. there’s no way i’ll ever regret it (sub / dub) // 6. this just can’t be right (sub / dub) // 7. can you face your true feelings? (sub / dub) // 8. i was stupid, so stupid (sub / dub) // 9. i'd never allow that to happen (sub / dub) // 10. i won’t rely on anyone anymore (sub / dub) // 11. the only thing i have left to guide me (sub / dub) // 12. my very best friend (sub / dub)

I just downloaded SketchBook Copic Edition. AND IT’S REALLY GREAT! The interface it’s like the other SketchBook programs but I love how the colors can be blended and treated almost like real Copic markers!, I’m exited.

I’m sharing my first drawing here so it’s not so cool…but I’ll be practicing a lot with this thing. The download it’s easy and you can find the program for free in the AppStore, here: DOWNLOAD

Hope you guys enjoy the program as much as I did!

This is the program I use. I love it.

Downloading this now. 8D
