Keep in mind, if you were making an item, what your interests are, what you think power is, what you would think is desireable – that is the guiding principle for how you made these.

Magnus: The power to protect people, to keep them safe from any threat. The ability to undo the harms of the past, and foresee the harm of the future.

Merle: Power comes from nature. Power is confidence, and knowing that nothing you do will fail. Power is divine.

Taako: Power over material things; to have whatever you want, when you want it, and never have to think about the cost.

Lup: The power to destroy your enemies. Power channels your emotions, it turns your anger into flame.

Barry: The power over life and death. To keep yourself alive even in impossible situations, to save those you love from death itself.

Davenport: The power to create something from nothing. Power lets you take a vision that only existed in your mind, and turn it into a reality.

Lucretia: We don’t yet know what the Bulwark Staff does. But I think Lucretia’s power is the power to save the ones you love. To make them happy.

Nightmare Before Christmas is the perfect visual representation of cultural appropriation and why you shouldn’t do it.

Okay, let me expand. He goes in to a place, a new “culture” he likes it. He has perfectly good intentions about bringing that culture to his own people and he completely fucks it up because he doesn’t understand it and ends up bastardizing it.

I’m not saying I don’t like the movie, just giving a little perspective.

This is actually a great observation. He doesn’t talk to anyone in Christmastown, he doesn’t make any effort to understand their culture, he just thinks that it’s going to fill the empty space in his heart so he tries to take it and make it his own, and he royally fucks it up, good intentions or not.
