Jason doing ASL is the funniest shit I’ve ever seen
This tiktoker shared some simple ASL for people to know to help deaf/hoh people communicate their needs while everyone is wearing masks !
Reminder that facial expressions/head shaking is very important in ASL!!!
For example, when you sign, "I don't understand," BE SURE to shake your head no. Otherwise, you are saying the opposite. This is because ASL is NOT a picture version of English. It's its own language with its own grammar structure.
Be safe!
I’ve said this before and I’ll say it again but it is absolutely an example of civilizational inadequacy that only deaf people know ASL
“oh we shouldn’t teach children this language, it will only come in handy if they [checks notes] ever have to talk in a situation where it’s noisy or they need to be quiet”
My mom learned it because she figured she’ll go deaf when she gets old
My family went holiday SCUBA diving once, and a couple of Deaf guys were in the group. I was really little and I spent most of the briefing overcome with the realization that while the rest of us were going to have regulators in our mouths and be underwater fairly soon, they were going to be able to do all the same stuff and keep talking.
The only reason some form of sign language is not a standard skill is ableism, as far as I can tell.
For anyone interested in learning, Bill Vicars has full lessons of ASL on youtube that were used in my college level classes.
and here’s the link to the website he puts in his videos:
ASL doesn’t compensate for names unless you’re fingerspelling, so Frisk must get creative with what they call each of their friends….
can I get me some good old fashioned fluff for TFP Soundwave and a sweet non-verbal human please? The human probably tries teaching Soundwave ASL so they can communicate, and in return he plays alien music for them, that sort of thing? You're both doing such a great job running this blog, hope you're having a good day and thanks in advance!
Hi Tatertit here because I fricken love ASL. I only took the starting/beginning class for it so excuse me for my grammatical errors, but I’m steadily and continuing to learn ASL.
Here’s my little drabble for your prompt! I didn’t use a non-verbal human, I made it so the human lost their voice after they got sick. Fun times ensues!!
Bonus: soundwave decodes the last bit on his own time.
you ever go casually nonverbal like it suddenly takes way too much energy to move your mouth and say stuff and you wouldnt be able to physically force more than a few words out if you tried but youre not stressed or anything its just kinda like aight then ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
