I watched the first episode of Cyberverse in Japanese while working because I saw a post mentioning the dub had some fun differences, and now that I’ve seen Episode 1 I can confirm the dub does have some fun additions and the dub itself is downright ADORABLE. Some examples:

  • The entire opening where Bee’s driving through the canyon has the voiceover narrating his stunts, which is fun.
  • When Bumblebee asks Windblade “Who are you?” his voice is so cute! The voice samples he uses are really great.
  • When Windblade says Bee's memory is kinda broken, Bee sings "壊れてる?どうする?僕の頭が, こわれちゃたんが” (Broken? What should I do? My head was broken) and Windblade responds by singing "何が問題が調べてみましょ” (Let’s find out what the problem is) which totally sounds like something a parent / older sister would say to a little kid or sibling AND IT’S! JUST! SO! CUTE!!!!
  • The Intro and Outro both have a voice-over narrator essentially saying things like "Oh no, what's going to happen?" and talking with Bee, which I think is a cute touch. I don’t watch a lot of Japanese kids shows but I think that’s a common theme in most of their kids cartoons
  • Whenever they Transform they say “Windblade, Transform!” or “Bumblebee, Transform!” and they yell out the names of their special moves which is cute (especially when Thundercracker said “Thundercracker, Punch!” lmao)
  • The fight scene with Windblade and Thundercracker had a LOT more dialogue, which was fun because when Thundercracker took Windblade’s sword he was like “Ohh, what’s this?” and Windblade was like “Hey, that’s mine! >:O” which was funny. I’m interested in watching more of the Japanese dub, it seems like a lot of fun!

Mae Catt’s Cyberverse Q&A

Here’s a neater version of some key Q&A responses from Mae Catt’s Cyberverse stream.

Please note: not everything is verbatim, and also note that Mae Catt said “Don’t take things I say as the end-all be-all.” She’s a big supporter of fanfic writers!

This Q&A session contains spoilers for Season 3 of Cyberverse. For a (somewhat) more comprehensive transcript, please refer to this post.
