The Adventure Zone: Balance Arc Trailer Animatic

I finally finished this animatic! I’ve had the idea for months and months but it’s finally done. I wanted to make something to show everything I loved about the Balance Arc. To quote Magnus, “It’s not perfect, but it’s the best I can do.”

So..this is a thing I’ve noticed.

Most people..talk about the ‘Forgettable’ part of this, when you check his stats. And yeah..that’s not true at all, but look.

Look at his stats.

Normally they’re 8 ATK and 2 DEF yet, right here they’re 5 and 5.

They’re balanced.

..He lowered his attack..

…Yet raised his defense as well.

..He’s..capable, of changing his stats..?

And if he did that…

Then does that mean, he was..prepared if he did take a hit.

So when he says.. ‘He didn’t expect that’ could that also refer to the fact that he didn’t think he’d get one shotted? That he’d survive?

It’s..interesting.

When a monster offers to be spared, a boss monster, their defense LOWERS yet his RAISED..

i’ve been looking at asriel and chara’s room in new home (you know, as i do) and got to thinking about the configuration of stuff in it. this is gonna be less an analysis than a quick-and-dirty Make Of This What You Will, BUT fwiw!! here we go:

so! on the right, asriel’s bed. on the left, chara’s. a couple things jump out at me in particular (and discounting the presents for now i’m going off the assumption that the room has been left more or less untouched since…. well. yeah)

we’ve got more clutter on asriel’s side - the toy box, what looks like a couple stuffed animals smooshed between his bed and wall…. the lamp is in his corner too. we know the wardrobe was shared but it’s right next to his bed. it could have been a similar sitch with the toys, most of which were set on asriel’s side for whatever reason (i can. think of a few)

chara’s half is comparatively sparse. their bed is flush against the wall, there’s a shelf farther away from the bed than the wardrobe is from asriel’s, we’ve got their golden flower drawing, and -

this. turned towards chara’s bed (the head of their bed, in fact)
