I had a passing thought about fox spirit Stiles :>
These new S4 promos are killing me! OMG, so have a simple Stiles study that was supposed to stay black-and-white but then didn’t.
He is literally my favourite thing to draw these days.

This morning I woke up to multiple messages in my askbox, urging me to tell other Sterek shippers about a person that’s going around bullying Scerek shippers and leaving mean comments on their fics and in the askbox of their Tumblr blog.
A couple of the messages say that the...
I’ve reached the point of no return
Ok, so there’s a photoset going around featuring the Argents from Teen Wolf racebent with Black actors. It’s visually quite striking and the selections are legitimately good. But that photoset still made me feel some kind of way, because here’s the thing: in the story universe of Teen Wolf, the Argents are canonical bigots. It’s easy for people to, I think, forget that because Allison turned out so awesome and Chris has, for the most part at this point in the story, shaken off the more toxic aspects of his family’s larger ideology. But if we take as understood that one way of reading TW is that it’s an allegory for racism?* The Argents - at least in seasons 1 and 2 - are the primary racists in the story. Gerard, Kate and Victoria are actively-practicing bigots; Victoria straight-up tried to kill a teenaged boy because she didn’t want her daughter having sex with one of his ‘kind’. And if Kate (presumably acting on Gerard’s orders) ever had an actual safety-based, defense-of-self-and/or-others reason for burning the Hales alive, we would’ve heard about it by now, especially given both her and her father’s propensity for monologuing. Nah, it’s more likely than not she, with Gerard’s blessing, set them on fire both as a power play and because she hated them for being werewolves.
I already have a problem with the idea of doing an allegory for racism and its toxic effects where the victims of the story universe’s racist allegory are primarily White people/played by White actors (as the majority of the werewolves we’ve met on the show are) for a whole host of reasons that are for another post on another day. And if it’s accepted that this was, at least in the earlier seasons, one of TW’s themes, then yeah, I have a problem with racebending the Argents and particularly with racebending them with Black actors.
In general, I think racebending fancasts can be incredibly interesting and of course I think it’s incredibly important for fandom to be ready and willing to push itself beyond always imagining fictional characters defaulting to White. But. I also think a certain thoughtfulness needs to go into doing this, and a certain consciousness about how, if at all, race plays a role in the source material such that changing the race of the characters actually gives rise to uncomfortable or problematic implications. If TW could not be read as an allegory for racism, if the Argents had not been presented as the racist antagonists within that allegory, then racebending them to not-White wouldn’t be an issue. But it can be read that way and the Argents themselves are presented that way within the text. So yeah, it’s a problem to imagine them as not White within that context.
*I’ve never been comfortable with the idea that TW is an allegory for racism because I generally tend to think it’s bullshit to do that kind of thing and make the oppressed class White/primarily White, but that is one way people read the show, at least in its early seasons, and IIRC, it’s a reading Davis himself has endorsed.
for ask-ichigo-and-rukia and based vaguely on this gif:
I’ve had several asks about how to make the “comic” effect on those gifs.
So, I’m going to give a you quick run down. I’m going to assume you have a working knowledge of gif making and actions. If not, please let me know and I’ll try to make a more in depth tutorial for you.
FINAL RESULT
Step 1: Grab your gif. I’m using this one of Derek, because why not?
Step 2: This is the most important part: Topez Clean Filter. You can download the filter here. This is what’s going to give you the comic feel. I’m sure you can do it other ways, but I’d need to experiment.
Now, you can create a new action or you can simply apply the filter to each individual layer, which will take longer.
My settings:
Cartooned
- Clean: 3, .32, 12
- Edges: 2, 1.84, 1.38
- Texture: 0, 1, 2
*I felt like that filter was a bit strong, so I went to Edit - Fade Topaz Clean. I set the opacity to 70%.
**So, you’ll do that to your first layer. After that, you should be able to just go on to your second layer, go to Filter and click on Topaz Clean (the one at the very top of the drop down menu). This will simply load your last settings onto your second layer. Then, you’ll need to go to Edit and fade the filter again.
***Repeat this for every layer in your gif. If you know how to do actions, now would be a good time to make one.
This is what your gif should look like:
Step 3: You can do your coloring now. My gif is already colored, so I’m not going to do anything here.
Step 4: Now we’ll add the black border. Create a new layer and then go to Select - All. Then go to Edit - Stroke. A new window will pop up. Use these settings:
This is your gif now:
Step 5: Now we’ll add the speech bubble. Create a new layer above the border layer. Make sure your foreground color is white and select the Custom Shape Tool:
Now, go to the top of the tool bar and select the right speech bubble:
Now, left-click and drag the tool until you get the shape you want.
At this point, I went to the layer with the shape and right-click. Select Convert to Smart Object. Now, you will be able to scale the bubble if you need to.
Step 6: We need to rotate the bubble so it looks like Derek is talking. With the shape layer still selected, go to Edit - Transform - Rotate 180. Move the bubble where you want it:
Step 7: Text!! I used the font Gnat. Type your text and place it in the bubble.
Step 8: Save! These are my settings:
And here’s the final gif!
I’m super horrible at explaining things. Please let me know if you have any questions!
Oh my god. If you tweaked it some more it'd be like Telltale game.
