Taiwan Video Club exploits video as a medium meant to be copied. Its duplicated imagery highlights the process of translation between cultural and technological forms. The video profiles a group of cost-cutting Asian immigrants who collect and trade videotapes of their favorite daily epics recorded by overseas family members off Taiwanese broadcast television. Their pirate distribution marks a turning point in the history of consumer video when stories that were once passed on from mouth to mouth began to be passed on from VCR to VCR.
