by the way. Happy holidays knife fans
its been eight months and im still obsessed with them happy holidays everyone
thinking about an alinej au where after rule of wolves alina runs away and ends up on inej's ship and figures out that true love and happiness can restore her as a saint, powers and all and she's got inej to thank for that (or she could become horribly corrupted after that like your fantastic au)
oh babe we've thought of this and you're right it's such a wholesome concept ❤️
what is is knifeposting? just alinej?
knifeposters are alinejs who are way too dedicated the aesthetic and just think it would be super cool and fun if alina had a corruption arc and became so dangerous to the world and herself that inej would have to kill her ❤️ returning the knife to her saint in order to save them both
the amount of times inej thinks of alina in the chapter where she fights dunyasha at the church...

i think one of the aspects of knifeposting that makes it compelling is that following canon alina comes into power with the insistence of the patriarchy - the darkling encouraging their powers, the ravkan monarch's ball validating their status as a saint but once they have power (and i'm talking abt political here, i'm talking abt religious, i'm talking abt reality-defining) and the first thing they do with newfound freedom is give inej a knife (where once before a knife was given to inej for her own chance at freedom) like empowering inej, literally and symbolically, is alina's own way of taking back their agency. it's the non-conformance to the status quo and even toppling it. the symbiosis of this dynamic, of power inspiring more power, that ultimately leads to self-destruction like oooo this shit HITS!!!!
