Act 1 Song 7.5

Making my way through this musical, showy but surly slowly but surely. Lemme tell ya, it’s kinda weird to have seen Hirose Daisuke as Okita while I was clipping backstage tomfoolery, and then come back to reviewing this, and… who the hell is this guy again?

…Anyway after that magnificent shirtless number (which I’m sure you all recall) Chizuru’s like “aw, Okita-san, why weren’t you shirtless?”

And Okita’s like “do I look like the kinda guy who’d voluntarily miss a shirtless scene?? nah girl I had some shit to do”

Chizuru isn’t even listening anymore and just reliving the time way back when (like a minute ago) when she was observing a herd of half-naked Shinsengumi in their natural habitat. Lucky.

Okita is offended and fake coughs to get her attention, which quickly turns into real coughing. (Actually they talk for a while about things I don’t understand due to no subtitles, and then he collapses.)

Chizuru is concerned and runs for help. Okita tries to catch her before she tells anyone, but alas, his illness interferes.

He sings a short aria, which is the first actual singing in this ‘song’. Unremarkable and inadvisable considering the deterioration of his lungs, but w/e. It’s a musical. What did I expect.

On a side note, what is it with this guy and following up fun numbers with sad soliloquies? like damn first it’s him being all like “I’M NOT GOING BACK TO EDO also I’ma murder this guy for Kondou” back in Reimeiroku and now it’s like “fuck I have tuberculosis fuuuuck”. Poor sinnamon roll can’t catch a break.

…yeah so then Yamazaki comes to tell Chizuru it’s tb, she flips even though it’s really obvious, etc. Nothing worth capping, imo. Scene transition!
