I’m still disappointed that the cutting/drug/ diaries were omitted from the audiobook. Those chapters were the most personal to me.

An excerpt of the Cutting Diary is available here from an early version of the audiobook recording. You can also visit this page to see all archive entries and download all files.

Agreed, though. They're the best part of the book.

What on earth is NFT stuff?? I genuinely thought it was a scam mail at first and it took two attempts for me slightly understand what it was. What is the point? I’m buying something that doesn’t exist? Too many questions

A non-fungible token (NFT) is a unit of data on a digital ledger called a blockchain, where each NFT can represent a unique digital item, and thus they are not interchangeable. NFTs can represent digital files such as art, audio, video, and other forms of creative work. While the digital files themselves are infinitely reproducible, the NFTs representing them are tracked on their underlying blockchains and provide buyers with proof of ownership.

Basically, you’re buying a token the represents (in EA’s case) the artwork featured on her OpenSea listing, but that artwork remains visible to the general public despite your ownership. But your token is unique and only belongs to you.

It’s sort of the same idea as owning a piece of artwork featured in a free art museum. You own that art indisputably, but it is available for consumption and viewing by the general public regardless.

NFTs can also come with other exclusive items on purchase. In the case of this inmate number, while you also own the token connected to the media, you are being given W14E by EA herself and a few downloadable extras.

(NAC; no photo needed) So, does anyone know if someone has a lead on the Enchant puzzle? Or if someone found the spoon or whatever that puzzle from the book was? Just randomly popped in to my head.

The Enchant Puzzle is still unsolved. The last place I know of where people are trying to solve it is here. @offaeriesandspoons had also made some interesting posts about it at the beginning of the year, but that blog closed over the summer.

It seems that everyone has hit a roadblock with the Quest for the Spoon of the Royals. All the Facebooks groups are dead and no one has posted about making any more progress past the image anagrams. A lot of them are still unsolved. @shefightslikeagirl has a masterpost of what’s known so far (best viewed on desktop).

Hello, I’m the ex admin/creator/etc. of Of Faeries and Spoons. I wanted to make a small correction and add some further details specifically on the puzzle situations, up to the moment I left. I think this is the last thing I can leave behind of the work I deleted when I chose to stop engaging (a decision I don’t regret), some sort of requiem for the stuff I worked hard on. So I’m gonna offer a bit of information with the hopes of it making some sense to whoever may need it, and then return to the shadows. If any of this is outdated, don’t mind me.

Reblogging this because it’s interesting!  For full clarity, I’m the one who has the @offaeriesandspoons URL now, purely so that a lot of the links that were passed around don’t die completely. They at least re-direct to a post that explains where the blog went instead of nothingness, or worse, something completely unrelated.

If @starberry-cupcake would like the URL back at any point in time, she’s welcome to it (we’ve talked about this privately before, but like I said, I’m just putting this out there for clarity).

People being mad that EA did a lesbian sex scene are homophobic. Full stop.

If this about that music video, I forget the band who did it, I’m unaware of outrage over it. But I remember watching that video when I was still heavily in denial about my sexuality and saying to myself “I’m just a big fan. That’s why I’m watching this... multiple times... oh no...”

The band is Die Warzau. Same i didn’t know it even made people rage in the first place, if so it was a minor thing. Even EA said there was no backlash after that, so it must’ve been a more recent thing. I don’t mind the video either, plus people behave as if she’s never behaved provocative etc. She was a guest in another music video Pornstar Champion by Scum of the earth and just like girl dance around rappers, she danced around some metal guy, lol. And she likes to show her body. Nah, that’s not even a problematic thing...

Honestly I usually keep pretty good tabs on what people are pissed off about and this is new to me. I know there's a larger discussion about how EA portrays lesbian relationships in the Asylum book, but I'd never heard anything about the Die Warzau video...

A comment on a recent confession mentioned a FLAG or Enchant Companion. That would be so cool. I still wish she was going to do that behind-the-scenes of the FLAG music video that she mentioned years ago. It doesn’t have to be streaming either; she could sell the file package on her website.

I'm assuming the footage exists of the FLAG BTS stuff. I was there and Marc came through with a camera and asked us all random questions for it, they filmed some PRs in cool costumes too if I remember right.

Hey guys. I know Emilie used to post photos/ journal entries on forums/livejournal from 2004, but what about Enchant days (2000-2003)? Did she have any online journal back then? Did she write updates and where? Maybe Flee was writing something? Does anyone know anything or has copies? I'm very curious

There was a livejournal in the early days. It's not active or around anymore, but it was called BonnyTymePyrate and opened in 2004. She was super active there for a long time.

Maybe a year before that, there was a proboards (?) forum around during the Enchant days. That eventually switched over to its own site and was the Official Asylum Forum (RIP). I don't know how active she was there.

Also, Myspace.

Further back, EA had her official website, which was known as EAOnline at the time. There was a newsletter and written updates posted to the website, but it wasn't anything like the journal entries. There were news updates, the Enchant Puzzle mini site, and more.

Hi! Does anybody have or know where to find pictures of her "Alter, a Shrine to Recycled Fashion" collection? thanks!! :*

Id recommend starting here: http://bonnytymepyrate.com/journals and CTRL+F for “alter,” there are a few entries with a couple pictures.

Otherwise, I’d recommend searching around @shefightslikeagirl or @omistressmine !

Hi! I don’t have anything Alter, but...

Visit @omistressmine ALTER TAG Visit Alter’s Website, as archived by the Web Archive. Ask @queen-flee herself!

NAC: To answer the question regarding TAWVG being in international libraries (I'm a librarian, working in ILL). Worldcat is a wonderful resource that catalogs all recorded holdings within OCLC libraries, both nationally and internationally. Check here-www(.)worldcat(.)org/title/asylum-for-wayward-victorian-girls-a-novel/oclc/1002854995?referer=di&ht=edition and you can see there are some international holdings. Not sure how international public libraries work, but they'd be the best bet.

Fun fact about EA and libraries:

There's one in Chicago that has the entirety of her Enchant Era discography and publications (poem books). Even the demo disks. I found them on an online database. They're all autographed, too.

Didn't old admins have sideblogs to keep from having conversations with people here to keep the blog neutral?

At this point I can’t remember what the original purpose of admin sideblogs were, but probably, yes. In all honesty I don’t think any of those blogs get any messages in the first place any more, so we can only answer questions that may lead to conversations on this blog where they get sent.

So on that note, reminder that this page exists

Yes, that was the reason.

This is also technically a WVC sideblog, but then it spiraled into its own thing. I still get the occassional question 😉

I can’t join the SSS group on FB because the directions involve having a public post to show her, and my mental illnesses give me bad anxiety over the idea of all my FB friends being able to see it. It really bums me out, and I’m sure she’d just tell me to be proud and do it anyway and “don’t let it get to you”, like everyone else does.

Admin note: Hun (may I call you hun?) I completely, completely understand. I went through the exact same thing. The idea of posting it for all my facebook friends to see had me sweating (who’da thought Snarks was self-aware, huh?). After a while I was like, “no this is too much for me.” And it’s ok for certain things to be too much. It’s ok to say no sometimes. Personally I created a new account, which I made private, and only have the rat thing as the post. I used one of my ‘fake names’ I use for other things I’d rather keep private. I’m in the group now. I hope this makes you feel a bit better… -Snarky

If you have Emilie as a friend on Facebook, you have the ability to restrict the privacy of a post so only she can see it. Or, alternatively, you could select a small group of people and restrict them from seeing it.

I understand that her idea is that more people are exposed to the book through your post, but personal circumstances shouldn’t keep you out of the “Asylum,” as many would put it.

Hope this helps.

NAC: I keep seeing comments about how Emilie "publicly told" everyone that her family died in a fire or that she "lied to everyone's faces" about it. I came across her tweet about it and here I was thinking she'd said it in a formal interview or on stage or something. Was this the only time she ever said that? Is this really what all the fuss is about?

I’m fairly certain that the tweet was the first time any fans heard this from EA herself, but there was this one interview where she did say she lost a certain belonging, telling the interviewer that it ‘perished in a fire along with her whole family’. Unfortunately, I only saw that video once, several years ago, and although it’s quite a vague memory, I very specifically remember feeling a little disheartened at how she said it, so it’s definitely out there.

Does anyone else recall this interview, at all? - Z

So the drama stemmed from this, once upon a time:

EA wrote this post about her father dying. Then, years later, there was a post on the forum (either by herself or her manager at the time, Johnnie) saying that her entire family died in a fire. Again mentioned on twitter in 2011:

@psychofiddlerzo My entire family died in a fire several years ago.

I don’t think it was ever mentioned in an official interview, though there was the eel bite mentioned in two separate ones from before and after Opheliac.

WOW! She is so full BS.. "Emilie's poetry, published in her early twenties, has been used as the basis for original works created and publicly performed by New York's Rochester Ballet Company, using her spoken-word and classical violin work recorded as a teenager as the score." So she was a teenager in 2005???!!!!! OKAY THEN. What is with her want to look like a wonderkind when she basically wasnt known by anyone until 2006....i don't get it! Its off putting.

The Rochester Ballet Company used works originally released on “On a Day…,” EA’s first CD release, comprised of most of the classical violin tracks found on what we today call “Laced.” When “On a Day…” was originally released in 1997, Emilie Autumn was 17 or 19, depending on which birthyear you think she actually has.

Her poetry was first published in a collection called “Across the Sky and Other Poems,” released originally in 2001 (when EA was, in fact, in her early twenties), and later partially re-released in 2005 as “Your Sugar Sits Untouched.”

Nothing in that statement is a lie, it just takes into account the initial release years of the material, not the most “popular” release year.

Rochester City Ballet Links

On A Day... was recorded in 1997, released in 2000, and re-released/re-recorded for Laced. But these files also existed beforehand in the promo for On A Day..., Violin (Messina Productions, 1997). Clearly in her teenage years. And all the YSSU information above is correct.

NAC: Does anybody know where the full audio for songs like "Faces Like Mine" and "Willow" (the lyrical one) came from? I know that at least a snippet of the former came from one of EA's old sites, but I'm not sure whether or not it was the full song. Thanks!

Avatar

Faces Like Mine and Willow were both released as a free digital download on the original forum site, I believe! You might want to check @shefightslikeagirl though, as my memory from way back when is rather fuzzy.

(Fun fact, I’m on Tumblr so infrequently, I rarely see when WVC tags me.)

Quick Answer: Battered Rose (RIP) had these up for download, which means that at some point they were both available on either the old EA website or on the forums.

Long Answer: Willow was originally written by EA as a duet for herself and Morrisey. Harkening back to forum days, I believe there was a journal entry where she said she threw a demo of the song up on the stage at one of his concerts, with hopes he would listen to it. I’d imagine that was where this song first popped up.

Faces Like Mine has a more vague story. It popped up as a song intended for The Jane Brooks Project (thanks, WayBack machine!), but I have absolutely no idea where the full file was posted online. It could have been online in the early days of the forum or Traitor Records had the full song up for preview. It lived on Battered Rose for a long time and in wingedzypher’s lyric videos on YouTube (deactivated). I’m 90% sure the demo is a live recording. It could have also popped upon the mythical forum-before-the-forum from the early Enchant days, but I haven’t ever been able to access the site.
