UPDATES!

We have a Gallery up and running now! (best viewed on desktop)

All images link out to @opheliagallery, because I can't help but have one huge website spread across three different handles.

It can be filtered by Era (Enchant, Opheliac...) or Type (Professional, Candid...). It's mostly professional shoots at the moment.

If you'd like me to add any photosets, just shoot me an ask. Or, if you want, send any photos you have over to [email protected]

My last project: An EA timeline.

I'll finish it. One day.

hi there! sorry to bother you with another weird question but: I was recently looking at old versions of EA's website on the wayback machine, and there are absolutely no saves for all of 2009. any idea why? I know, for example, rasputina/melora creager's website went through a couple of url changes a number of years ago, which now causes some weirdness with the archive, but I don't remember Emilie ever doing that... is it possible that year has been purposefully excluded for some reason? idk, just seems strange. my apologies if there is an obvious answer to this. and many thanks in advance!

Don't apologize! I love weird questions!

If I remember correctly, EA blocked the website from being archived. There was a period of time where it was a big no-no to root around on her website. I think she did it with some robots.txt fuckery? I'm not really sure how it all works. For a while the Wayback Machine barely worked for her main site, then one day it suddenly worked very well.

You can get the Wayback Machine to give you some 2009 results if you go to the Site Map option.

Thanks for the question! Hope this helps!

An Asylum History post by @shefightslikeagirl

The tacky pink stripes. The banhammers. The blog posts. The drama.

Take yourself back a decade or two and revisit The Asylum Forum, complete with 2000s-pettiness, rage posting, and fans who take the meaning of parasocial to a whole new level.

Don't forget to have a cup of tea and relax a little...

Updates!

THE JOURNAL ARCHIVES

After a year or two and a lot of copy/paste, I've finally migrated BTP's old journal archive to SFLAG. I'm still going to see if I can bully the wayback machine into giving me a few more of EA's journal entries, but for now, THE JOURNAL ARCHIVES ARE COMPLETE!

Complete as they'll ever be, anyway. Things have been lost to time.

NEWSLETTERS

I added some Wayback Machine links to the Newsletter pages. If you never delete your emails and have copies of newsletters, feel free to forward them to me at [email protected]

Especially anything 2010 and before!

ART

The Art page has been updated with all of EA's AI Art Posts. I managed to save them all before she wiped her Instagram.

THE ASYLUM FOR WAYWARD VICTORIAN GIRLS

All pages in this section are complete--for now.

NEW PROJECTS

There are a few more masterposts I'd like to do, but the last big undertaking I'm working on is an [unofficial] EA Timeline. I've been writing one that's on a scrollable page, but it's incredibly slow-going. I'd also like to do a discography that can double as an "ultimate" EA Album Guide.

Masterposts in progress:

  • The Closing of the Asylum Forums
  • The Asylum Army Fanclub

After that, I'll attempt to finish up the Merch section. But anymore than that... I don't think it'll happen. I'm all tapped out on energy and interest. Unless EA comes back, that will probably be the end of the archive.

But, please, if you have anything that you see I'm missing, tell me in the inbox or send me an email! I'd love any help!

EA slapped your friend’s ex-bf? spill…

lol! This is old drama, circa 2011. I've written about it before.

I went to the Door Tour with my friend for my birthday. I had a VIP ticket but she didn't—she decided to come last minute—so she brought her bf for company. She wasn't an EA fan; she just wanted to hang for my birthday. She had no clue what the concerts were like.

You can watch it for yourself below. He told her to "take it off." She said "you take it off" and came up to the edge of the stage. I think he thought that she wanted him to take it off of her, not for him to take off his shirt.

So he reached for her and she slapped him. He deserved it (and, yes, he's an asshole), but I think it was partly a misunderstanding. No tears were shed when my friend finally broke up with him later on. I was not a fan.

Some people haved claimed he was drunk and was being otherwise destructive, but none of us were drinking (underaged) and I don't remember him doing anything else. But it has been over a decade.

This was also the same concert where EA was getting stalked by eBay sellers and flipped out on them in front of the venue, so it was an eventful day. I remember Veronica coming outside and calming everyone down because it happened right in front of the line. You can hear EA reference it at the beginning of this video (audio warning: immediately starts with fans screaming).

I did write EA a letter apologizing for bringing him. I was in high school at the time, deep in the depths of my full-cringe PR phase.

About once a year I do a YouTube search for EA to see if anything interesting pops up. This video is about 9 months old, but it's a fun look at someone experiencing "Opheliac" for the first time.

I'd recommend watching on 2x—he's pretty quiet for the first part—but it's worth a view! He caught onto a lot of what EA and Inky talked about in the Companion.

idk how long it's been like this or if someone else has already pointed this out, but all of her of posts from around the time of her whole ai art... um... phase? are gone, even the posts about other stuff, like her mixed media work. and, weirdly, it says she's following zero people right now. maybe I'm late to the party / maybe none of that means anything, just thought it might be worth mentioning....

Yes! I was going to make a post about it but forgot.

Her art-related blog posts have been gone for a while, but within the last month EA culled all her so-called "AI Art posts" from Instagram. It also appears she swept through her feed and deleted other posts (I only noticed because I very recently ripped her feed for the "from the archive" posts). Her followers are now private and, as it's been for a while, her comments are extremely limited on Insta.

EA's facebook page has also been partially purged. Her "last post" and everything dating back to 2015 appears to be gone. 2015 and earlier is still there, though... very weird.

EA's presence online is very scattered and inconsistent right now. Here's an odd list of things I've noticed:

  • All A Bit O' This & That songs (and possibly other albums) went unlisted on her official Youtube Page. All that's up there right now is FLAG and Behind the Musical. But YouTube Music is mostly unaffected.
  • ABOT&T is gone from YouTube music.
  • Enchant and other albums disappeared from Spotify, but are available on other streaming sites.
  • The only thing pushed in her Insta highlights is a newsletter that isn't active and doesn't provide the freebies advertised on the Emporium.
  • The Emporium is pretty broken. Random pages 404, like the Music page (but it works fine if you go to the subcategory).
  • The art listings are still live on the Emporium, listed as "sold out."
  • Her website features her entire discography, but most link out to dead Emporium pages.
  • The Gown audiobook "for two weeks only!" has been available on the Emporium for years now...
  • New "releases" playlists have been made on her Youtube within the last few days (but they could be auto-generated?).

Hard to tell if she's just slowly shutting down or quietly ramping up for something.
