Where online could I possibly buy old CDs for cheap? (This is prolly a stupid question, sorry). Also, I wanna do an Emilie Autumn themed cosplay(?) for Comicon next year and I was wondering if there’s any really good pictures of her outfits out there (or just literally the outfit in a store). I wanna do a mix of Asylum and Opheliac. Thanks!

On CDs for cheap (not a stupid question at all!): Right now there’s a significant downturn in EA’s popularity, as there often is when she goes on a tour hiatus or an extended break. So, lucky for you, that means her CDs are generally much cheaper than normal from third party sellers. Here are my recommendations:

  • Discogs
  • eBay (worldwide location settings)
  • Projekt (for GJWHF&BR EP only, new and sealed)

Expect anything from Renaissance Management to go from $200-$500, Seraph Records to be $40-$60 (if legitimate), Traitor Records in the $60-$300 zone, and all Trisol/The End Records albums anywhere from $10-$80. But, honestly, her Trisol catalog is going really cheap right now. You’ll probably get lucky.

If you want to purchase Fight Like A Girl, The Opheliac Companion, The Asylum for Wayward Victorian Girls: Behind the Musical, or The Asylum for Wayward Victorian Girls audiobook, visit The Asylum Emporium.

On Outfits: If you wait until Halloween, I’ll be posting a long-form series about costuming with detail shots and info about the production and design of most of EA’s costumes. If you don’t want to wait, here’s some good resources for photos:

As for buying off the rack, I only have a couple of ideas for you.

Hope this helps!

Emilie Autumn Ebay Auction The Fight Like A Girl Mohawk-Headdress! (and yes, she really did use a WVC picture in her listing)

The WARRIOR MOHAWK is attached to a sturdy, cap-like base for very quick and easy donning and removal, and secures to your head with a comb at the front of the headpiece's underside, braided trim straps, D-rings, and an elastic ribbon, making it 'one size fits all'. If you find you need more security, simply pin the sides of the base into your hair.

This item is obviously NOT NEW, but an authentic costume piece that has been worn, performed in, and MUCH used and loved during dozens of performances, photo shoots, and even a notorious music video.

The WARRIOR MOHAWK will arrive to you carefully packaged and will include a signed certificate of authenticity, autographed by EA.

Do keep in mind that every penny goes  towards making the Asylum stage show the greatest show on earth.

Note from EA: "Dearest Plague Rats, as difficult as it is for me to part with a costume piece that means so much to me and even signified the transformation from victim to warrior, I feel that it is important for me to let go in order that I may go on to transform yet again and create new bits of wearable magic to surprise you with:). This headpiece symbolized the birth of a new era in the Asylum. I know that letting it go out into the world, and to one pair of your devoted paws, will represent the truth that we are entering into a new age together -- you, the Plague Rats, the Crumpets, the Inmates, myself, and the entire Asylum. It is time for our ultimate evolution.
I made the WARRIOR MOHAWK with my own two hands and some very surprising materials (should it be yours, you will finally see exactly how I did it!). It is made up of synthetic hair to match my own perfectly in candy pink and platinum blond, and studded it with magical symbols of the Asylum and my place in it. This is the headdress of a tribal Queen (or King, as I'd dearly love to see this on a gentleman Plague Rat!!!).
Thank you for living in this world and fighting alongside me, not as my followers, but hand in hand, paw in paw, equal in our individuality and strength. -- EA"

Starting bid: $10.00, shipping NOT included. Ships from: Chicago, IL, USA Listing Time: 10 Days

Okay, so I’m in the middle of tracking these costume pieces down. They were auctioned off on eBay back in 2009.

I know the corset (and striped dress) belongs to Miss Hazey and the bustle belongs to Iveru. But I need photos of the items on and off stage. I believe I know what some of them are, but I can’t find all of them.

Any help?

Note from EA:

Dearest Plague Rats, I could never have imagined parting with this, the one and only RAT MASK. I intended to keep it in my Asylum costume archives forever and ever. And yet, at the close of 2012, after so many incredibly thrilling, exciting, magical tours around the world, we are entering into a new age together — you, the Plague Rats, the Crumpets, me, and the entire Asylum. It’s time for new creatures, new characters, new masks, and beautiful new costumes.

I made the RAT MASK with my own two hands and some very surprising materials (should it be yours, you will finally see exactly how I did it!). I filled it with magic and mystery, the symbolism of the plague rat, the plague doctor, and the Asylum prison gate itself, and that murky and terrifying dream world where they all meet and become the very same.

This object that has traveled with me from obscurity into your minds, that has covered my eyes, shielding me from looking too quickly into yours and being blinded by their light when I first take the stage each night, and, yes, that has been responsible for my bumping into way too many walls and falling off a backstage rafter or two, is the most famous and most significant symbol of the entire Asylum show to this point.

But it is YOU who took the pictures, shared the stories, posted passionately on YouTube, shared and believed in this reality.

And, therefore, I can think of no nobler head to hold up this iconic symbol than…YOURS:)!

— EA

P.S.

Once you put this thing on, you are going to realize just how much I CANNOT SEE during “4 O’Clock”

*******

The RAT MASK is studded with Swarovski crystals, and closes with elastic and magnets in the back, fitting snugly to a small sized head. You could always attach your own straps or ribbons for a custom fit.

This item is NOT NEW, but an authentic costume piece that has been worn, performed in, and MUCH used and loved during hundreds of performances throughout the past 5 years.

The RAT MASK will arrive to you wrapped in beautiful fabric and will include a signed certificate of authenticity.

Do keep in mind that every penny goes  towards making the Asylum stage show the greatest show on earth.

UPDATE: Barely two hours into bidding, the rat mask has already reached a high bid of $1,025.00. Fun fact -- this is the highest bid any Emilie Autumn item has reached on ebay ever, and I only expect the price to go up. There are four days left to go on the bidding. I'll make mini-post-updates throughout the bidding time by reblogging this post.

Now, if you want some EA items for free, I'd click on that link.

The Painted Doll | The Devil’s Carnival

Costume made and worn by Windofthestars.com Photo by IceMan

Being a huge fan of both REPO! The Genetic Opera and Emilie Autumn it was really no surprise that I ended up making EA’s outfit from The Devil’s Carnival, the new film from the master minds that made REPO!.  I only had a few promo images to puzzle out this costume, which was made in a few hours before we left!  So of course now that I have seen the movie I realize how inaccurate it is.  No worries I’ll be fixing it up and creeping and asking for kisses from all of you. ;)
