During the first season of Gravity Falls, we can tell that Mabel is fun, loving, and creative. She does what her heart tells her and thinks everything she does is the right thing to do.

But as we work our way farther into the series, we can tell Mabel has some weak spots in her personality. Sometimes she doesn’t know when to back out of something, like when she’s trying to prove Stan has a fear of height's.

As season two comes, you can definitely see Mabel learn this concept and more. She starts to learn that every problem doesn’t need her to fix it. I think Mabel figured this out after Dipper told Wendy about his feelings. She couldn’t control when or how the things would work, but was there to comfort her brother.

In the episode, Not What He Seems, we see a great part of Mabel’s weakness. As stated in Scaryokee, Mabel says how she got to sing karaoke with her two favorite people in the world.

In NWHS, Mabel is forced to choose between her two favorite people in the world, not knowing what will happen to her love for the person she doesn’t listen to. This isn’t like her past choices. She has to decide to either listen to her twin brother who is telling that the world will end unless she shuts the portal down, or her Grunkle Stan, who is telling her that this is all happening because of family. Mabel has the biggest bond with Dipper, but knowing that Stan is doing this for the people he loves makes her leave the portal on.

Now that she sees Stan’s brother, Mabel realizes that she did the right thing, even if her Grunkle Ford is mad at his brother. Because Mabel believes that things will sort out between the two.

But after hearing the backstory of the twins, she notices how they share a strong resemblance to her’s and Dipper’s relationship. And noticing how close they once were, and how distant they are now, Mabel is worried the same thing will happen with her and her brother. This is another one of Mabel’s flawed spots. She doesn’t want to lose the relationship with her brother. And even though Dipper tells her it will never happen, Mabel still has doubts. Because after seeing how close the brothers once were, and now how separate they are, she knows it can happen to anyone.

I think Mabel fears that Dipper will leave her because he will realize she chose Stan over him. But she still needs Dipper, to take care of her and teach her things. And even though they joke around like they always do, Mabel is still frightened by the idea of them being mad at each other and leaving the other twin behind.
