My sister used to chase me around with a knife and threaten to cut of my fingers when I was little. It’s was always when everyone else was out of the house, she would get this look and I knew I had five seconds to run. But since we lived in such a small apartment and I was a toddler she would always catch me. She would bring the bring the knife to my hands until I was screaming and crying.

I remember I brought it up as a joke later as a teen and the rest of my family was like “…WHAT?!”

when i was a young child, i was something that some would call “a little bitch.” this meant that i was very averse to anything that caused me any sort of pain or fear. alongside that, i also had a fucked up mouth inherited from my mother’s side of the family (and still do to this day, because braces can’t fix everything, kids!). this is only somewhat relevant but important to mention as a precedent. most of it came down to being a little bitch, though.

when i was around the age that most people lost their baby teeth and their adult teeth came in, i went through the process like any other child. most of my baby teeth fell out, i had an endearing tooth gap for awhile, then my adult teeth came in. the key word here being “most.” see, not all my baby teeth fell out on their own, and because i was too afraid of the pain that came with wiggling them, it meant that my baby teeth got loose, but never … left my mouth.

(i like to think that a part of this was caused, in part, by my fucked up mouth genetics. i know for a fact that it was actually because i was a wimp.)

but here’s the thing about adult teeth, if you didn’t know — they will come whether you like it, or your mouth has space for them, or not! this meant that i had an adult tooth that came in when i still had my baby tooth in, resulting in it pushing my still-loose baby tooth OUT OF THE WAY, and having double the amount of teeth for a few short months. of course, this wasn’t THAT big of a deal — my mom simply took me to the dentist, they numbed my mouth, and pulled out my loose baby tooth. i didn’t even need to be put under for it, luckily enough.

my dentist (still my dentist to this day, who at this point, desperately needs to retire) simply advised me in the future to wiggle my baby tooth despite the pain, so we did not need to bring me in for mild surgery again. my mom threatened me that if i didn’t wiggle my teeth we would be recreating a Robert Munsch book in real life.

this went on to happen five more times.

Oh shoot uh…

I used to be so scared of anything considered scary (blood, gore, loud creepy noises, even implied scariness, like a fade-to-black) that I would cover my ears and eyes when I walked past particularly aggressive Halloween decorations.

So when my family and I went to Six Flags during Halloween season and I literally had my eyes and ears closed the entire time, to the point where I missed the majority of the experience and I have no idea what Six Flags looks like.

I still have a little bit of this fear.

When i was 7 I watched Toy Story 3 and, for some reason, got horrified by it. It made me very afraid of the dark.

I was apparently so 'annoying' about my fear, that my dad quickly got sick of me going into their room and asking to sleep with them. So he dragged me to the only room in the house with no windows and turned off the lights (which are outside of the room for some reason) and locked the door, leaving me screaming and pounding on the door for about 15 minutes!

He is a strong believer of exposure therapy, apparently.

Yeah im still terrified of the dark.

Thinking about that series on TikTok where canon batfamily characters meet their fanon counterparts and I think all canon characters would have a sort of disdain to borderline hate for their fanon versions EXCEPT BRUCE. Canon Bruce would be seething with jealousy

Canon Bruce: so you’re saying… most of them live with you. In Wayne manor. And it’s not burned down every week.

Fanon Bruce: yup! All of them except Jason, he and I don’t get along very well you see… he’s always angry with me so the weekly family dinners are always tense ://

Canon Bruce, through gritted teeth: you see him regularly? Must be nice.

Fanon Bruce: it is! The kids can get a bit rambunctious at times but thankfully their older brother Dick is always there being the good responsible mentally stable older brother he is so there’s not much damage except the broken vase or two

Fanon Bruce: there’s also Tim, he can’t get enough of his coffee, sometimes I have to replace it with decaf just to get him to sleep!
