My parents raised me to treat people the way you would want to be treated and to be polite. Sometimes, when I get nervous or insecure, I might overcompensate and might not be totally true to what I am feeling inside. But I get nervous and maybe too smiley and polite.
I think I’m not always what I seem. Most people, when they get to know me, say, ‘You know, when I first met you…’ People initially think I’m a snob because I’m intensely private.

“For me, success is about the family and friends you keep; the people around you that you share your life with. I feel very successful in the relationships that I’ve been able to form in my life. I’m very lucky in that sense. I have friends and family who are very honest with me and tell me how it is. But they are also very compassionate and kind and supportive. My biggest success would be having children and having a family of my own now. It’s a lot of work, with kids, but it’s the greatest thing in the world.”

i’ve been really interested in how people’s physicality can manipulate their emotions, as opposed to emotions manipulating someone’s physicality.
“Spanish was my first language. Then you go to school, and within a month you’re completely an English baby. So that’s the battle you’re always having: It’s English out there and Spanish in the house. I don’t say ‘mommy,’ I say ‘mami.’”– Zoe Saldana
